Well, crap
1. Due to Greg having too much work (ironic, isn't it, with me unemployed), we can only have one week's holiday. Maybe we'll take another near the end of April.
2. LiveJournal isn't working properly for me. It mostly loads unformatted / unstyled (and in some cases unreadable) and I can't see any icons. At least I can post this on Dreamwidth.
3. Ashley caught a bird as big as her head. Lucky it's rubbish bin night. She's also the Lizard Queen, bringing in several a day. I am getting really fed up with rescuing them and releasing them outside, probably only to be caught again. This isn't just a summer thing either. She catches them all year round. :-(
But, looking on the bright side, cancelling the first week of holiday means that we can go to the Kumeu wine and food festival, and somewhere different in April. Or whenever.

Holidays and work related issues do seem to be filled with irony of the unpleasant variety at the moment.

Yeah, isn't it. I've applied for several jobs (as usual) but at least there seems to be more around this year.

Hope you enjoy the food festival. I suppose it's just as well one of you has a lot of paid work!

Mmm, wine and food festival.

Just not as good.

Maybe some wine in the shade of a tree like last time would help.

LJ was playing the disappearing icon game with me yesterday - I'm hoping it's all better today.
I'm afraid if we ever moved somewhere with more access to the outdoors, Kiki would bring me several catches a day, too. They're limited at the moment to finding and catching any mice that happen to wander in - and that's bad enough for me. Neither of our old cats were hunters.

Oh, my Ashley. She thinks she's providing for her family or is it just instinct and fun?
no subject
Instinct and fun, I think. She was a rescue from a vacant lot and had to have lived by hunting as a kitten.

Crap, crap, crap.

I hope LJ settles down soon. Is this on Greg's computer, or on your own? Sounds like your connection to LJ is too slow, so it's only loading the most basic parts (and then not the formating)... don't ask me why it's happening though.

Would it be worth asking LJ staffers about it?

[is very pissed off]

Oh rats to not getting time off!
If she's been used to hunting it may not be a habit she grows out of. Apart from being out with her and playing to keep her mind focussed on toys rather than prey, I can't think of anything else that might deter her.

Bah about the LJ problems. I know that there've been issues with some parts of the content delivery network (which is why it may be localised), but it doesn't matter whose fault it is, when you want to use the site. I hope that it gets sorted out soon.
As for Ashley, I hope maybe she'll calm down eventually. One of the nice things about Muffin being older, now, is that he doesn't catch things any more!

Ashley in her best hunting mood? What if she has made a contract with the resident lizards :-) silly, and I have to smile, she probably wants to make you happy!
Hopefully your LJ will be all right again!
