Not a good day

Crap. It was hot and sticky and now it's winter again with torrential rain. Which of course means that this room is leaking.

I got soaked today, I can't find anyone who sells liquid castile soap (because I want to try not using shampoo), it looks like they no longer make my favourite snack (salsa cassava chips), a bitch driving a tank parked so close to my car I had a hard time getting in (while getting soaked) while she sat there and watched, and I put the ice cream in the fridge instead of the freezer last night. And the book I'm reading really isn't cheering me up at all.

I'm so pissed off. I want something to go right. I want something fun to look forward to.

Oh, I'm sorry you had such a bad day, that's rubbish.

I'm trying to think of something fun that might cheer you up. Um, I'll get back to you! (although I do always recommend Mythbusters)

It's been very wet here too for the last few weeks, but at least my roof is waterproof (touch wood).

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
We've tried to fix this several times. It's only during downpours from a certain direction, but it scares me. I just hope the bloody roof doesn't rot and fall in one day.

*squish* I'm sending you lots of huggles and Noki just looked at the screen and started nuzzling it and purring very loudly. Wish I could do more than that:/. *more huggles*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww! Cats know. [hugs to you both]

I'm going to bed now. I'll probably feel better in the morning.

[identity profile] emerald-happy.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
awwww *hugs*

The book is all my fault as well.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
No it's not! Look, you did warn me, and I decided to read it between a light detective one and some SF. The timing is entirely my fault. At least he's up and about again and doing a different sort of stealing.

Really, I was depressed already. The book just failed to cheer me up the way a bit of escapism usually does.

God, sounds very stressful. I would have given her the two finger salute. Urban tractors! Don't let the shampoo thing be a negative - I can't find that soap stuff either.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I found some available online here: Dr Bronner's liquid castile soap. It looks very good, and has a lot of uses in place of toxic cleaners, according to sites I found. I'm sure you can get it there. I'm going to use it as a body wash and hand soap too; I find bars get so messy, so I've been using liquid "soaps" that really aren't and are full of sulphates. Dr Bronner himself seemed to have been a bit of a religious nutter, but his soap is pure, organic, Fair Trade, and seems to be considered the best you can get. Here are the ingredients for the almond one (you can get unscented): Water, Saponfied Organic Coconut Oil, Saponified Organic Olive Oil, Organic Glycerin, Organic Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Natural Almond Fragrance, Citric Acid, Tocopherol (Vit. E). Certified Fair Trade by IMO. Wow, a list I understand and trust! It's also very conentrated so it will last ages.

Here's the site (http://www.drbronner.com/). So far I've only found the liquid and bar soap, and the handwash here, but that's what I mainly want.

I glared at her so she knew I was angry. It's not the first time someone parked an urban assault vehicle too close to me. They're too big for normal car parks and I have a two-door car so my doors are larger than most people's. :-( I considered telling her what I thought, but I didn't think I'd be able to keep my temper.

Also, not a good day at Wellington.

Tabitha is sitting next to me and purring noisily, so I'm sure she sends some of that your way.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. That does not help. [rolls eyes] I don't get how a team can be good or bad as an entity. I always think that individual players should cancel each other out, but they don't.

Awww, thanks, Tabitha. The cubs are sweet and love being around us (Jasmin following me around like a dog), but they don't like being picked up and cuddled, and rarely sit on us, so I'm feeling rather bereft in that department too. :-(

That is such an adorable icon.

It's the weekend! Time with Greg perhaps? Will that cheer you up?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so. I've just had my Saturday morning cappuccino which is always lovely, and we'll probably go out to lunch. Plus buy some electronics (boring) and make yet another attempt to buy camping chairs just in case the weather's fine for the festivals we like to go to.

Around here, all the health food shops have liquid castile soap--could you ask one near you to order some from their suppliers? (Mind you, around here health "food" shops sell tons of cosmetics and toiletries, so if the ones near you just sell food then their suppliers might not have any.)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
The health food shop (part of a chain) had no idea what castile soap even was, though admittedly the woman was an immigrant and mightn't know the term. They do have cosmetics and toiletries (I've but Dr Hauschka from them before) but no liquid soap. Anyway I found Dr Bronner online and will order some. In the meantime I bought an 'eco' shampoo which has no sulphates (but all sorts of other opaquely-named chemicals) and it seems to have done a nice job on my hair. It's smooth and glossy and I'll see how it looks tomorrow; I only wash it every 2 or 3 days.

Today is indeed much better. I will post later. :-)

*hugs* Sorry you had such a wretched day. It seems like it all comes down on you at once. (And not just the rain).

Here's an amusing cat vid. Maybe it will cheer you up.

Ahahaha yes, the rain certainly did come down. Lucky I noticed the leak before bed.

Hee! I've seen the cat on the roomba before! So cute! I'd love one of those, but we have stairs, four lots. Here, have some kittens on a roomba (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTxW3GWZ5hI)! :-D

It's better today, though I spent half the night up because I couldn't sleep. It's the weekend and Greg's here so that's better. I should post about what we did today.

*hugs* So sorry you had an awful day! Days like that are just not fun. As for the tank driving witch - karma is a bitch. :o)
Liquid castile soap - I think I've seen it over at drugstore.com, if you don't mind shopping for it online.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno; lots of mean people don't seem to get zapped by karma. And I'm not sure what I did that I can't find a job. Ah well.

I found Dr Bronner liquid castile soap online here, and that looks very good. :-)

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
*Hugs* It will pass and all will be good again. It was just "one of these days". Mňau and Mrrrr.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
It is better today: the weather, my mood, and my ability to find what I want: camping chairs and British food. So you're right. It all just came at the end of a very unpleasant week. [hugs back]

[identity profile] glitterboy1.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah, I'm sorry, Nico. Too many things all at once... :-( I hope that tomorrow will be a better day. *hugs*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[hugs] It came at the end of a bad week, so it just all got me down. Today has been better. I think we'll go out for Thai tonight. :-)

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
And so I draw to your attention the Anglo Saxon poem, Deor, (http://www.kami.demon.co.uk/gesithas/readings/deor_me.html) and especially its refrain.

That passed, and so can this.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
I liked that! I wish the unemployment would go by. That would make me feel a lot better.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate hate HATE those big vehicles... and I don't think it's any coincidence that the drivers nearly always seem to be more selfish than usual.

{hugs}

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Their egos expand to fit their vehicles. And damn it, couldn't she see I have a two-door car which means my doors are bigger and can't open far when someone parks so close?

I think most of them are parents who are under the erroneous impression that their brood are safer in an urban assault vehicle. Not true; those things have a high centre of gravity.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Over here the big tanks went out of fashion the moment they increased the road tax on them. Something your government ought to consider? :¬) After all the bigger the are surely the more they wear down the road.
Hope the weekend brings you better weather and much better luck.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, the bastard owners aren't penalised here. Most seem to be parents dropping their kids off at school, parking illegally while they do it, or being road and parking hogs. I'd say most of the lazy morons who park outside the ATM when there are proper spaces a short walk away are arrogant 4WD drivers.

[identity profile] labingi.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry things have been getting you down. Thinking of you and hoping good things happen soon.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Well, today is better, but having a job would really help. :-P

Will the B7 rewatch help?
