An Archive of Our Own, and soccer

If you're interested in getting an invite to the multifandom Archive of Our Own, you can sign up to be sent one; just go to the site and click on "SIGN UP NOW". I did that yesterday, and they said I was in a queue and might get my invite by 20 November. However I got it today. :-) I haven't loaded up any fiction yet, and I do think the Hip Deep archive is a better and much easier place to find B7 fiction. However this will be a good place for me to post my non-B7 stuff, to find fanfic in other fandoms, and to provide another backup for my stories on my site and Hip Deep. It seems to have some very nice features like being able to save drafts, bookmarks, reading history, and subscriptions.

In other news, our soccer team (we have to say "soccer" here because "football" means rugby) has made it into the World Cup for the second time. Yay! :-D

Calloo, callay! :-) What's your user name over there?

I'm me. *g* Mab Browne, that is, although I messed up on the formatting for my user name. ::Heaves a sigh for my technical ineptness:: I'll use the archive for some of my stuff, but I don't know if I want my earliest efforts there. They're represented elsewhere, anyway.

Have fun. It all looks very interesting, and as you say, there's some nice features.

Congratulations! I look forward to an England / New Zealand final. :)

Go on, laugh! ;-) We're just pleased to be in it. I remember going to one of the games last time, my first live game. No, wait. That was rugby with my grandfather, and very cool because it was so novel. I feel differently about thugby now.

I'm laughing at the idea of England being in the final very nearly as much as New Zealand being in it.

They used to say that football was a game for gentlemen played by oafs, while rugby was a game for oafs played by gentlemen. Sadly nowadays it seems to be a game for oafs played by oafs. Not that I've ever been very interested in - or even really understood - rugby.

We do both seem to play well, then suddenly collapse under pressure. :-(

That is so true. I like that. I avoid rugby both as a game I dislike, and because it's pushed so much here.

Congratulations to your team!
Czech football used to be very good but now the players are scattered all over the world (and ice-hockey is tha same), sold like goods, and they failed...

I think that happens to our best too. Still, our soccer received a real boost last time. I like watching the lesser known teams in the World Cup as they often play with more attack and daring flair.

Archive sounds interesting...will investigate, thanks for the tip!

Congrats on making it into the World Cup!

It's meant to replace the Pit of Voles (ff.net) and be legally protected. It's the first multifandom archive I've felt like joining.

Congratulations to your team!

It will give soccer another big boost; the first time really helped the sport here. :-D
