Ha! It's as good a match as any I suppose, and hey, I'm from the right part of the galaxy. :-)

Oh my. You do look cool.

Why, thank you! [checks to see if you have a bounty]

Huh, that's interesting, I'd never have pegged you for Boba Fett. R2-D2, maybe - super-competent beneath an unassuming exterior.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't have me pegged for him either--or anyone else much. I'd like to be Han Solo but I know my limits.

Oh wow! Boba Fett huh? At least you get cool jet packs. :) I wonder who I will be?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Han? :-D

[identity profile] jthijsen.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I got Qui-Gonn, with Darth Maul as a close second...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's pretty cool!

Well, go you! :-D He's my favourite.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
He's definitely cooler than C3PO! Which result I have decided I am going to chalk up to my superior linguistic skills. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
C3PO was just programmed that way. Blame the kid. (What they did to original canon really hurts my head)

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I refuse to acknowledge the kid. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Raines would be proud of little Timmy.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Timmy, I'll acknowledge. :)

(Man, how is it that those prequels manage to suck the life so thoroughly out of genuinely good actors?)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Crappy dialogue, green screens, and complete lack of proper direction apparently. OTOH look at Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow which was done in a warehouse with green screens all the way through, yet the actors were great. Angelina Jolie is magnificent as a naval captain.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I still haven't seen Sky Captain. I keep vaguely meaning to, although Angelina Jolie's presence is actually kind of a disincentive for me. I sometimes find her bizarrely disturbing to look at, even though she seems like a reasonably good actor. On screen, she just looks like some kind of plastic sexbot, and one that's sitting right in the middle of the uncanny valley, at that. :)

Anyway, I personally don't blame the green screens at all -- good actors can learn how to deal with green screens and still give good performances. And I think FX-laden movies can be easily be either great or awful, although they may be slightly more likely to be awful just because the people making them think they can rely on FX to put butts in the seats. (Sadly, they're probably not wrong.) The dialog and direction, though... Oy. I so agree with you on those. Gah.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I was surprised at how good Jolie is in Sky Captain: a cool and kick-arse British commander of a floating battleship and not very plastic at all (though I know what you mean). She has an eyepatch. :-) I really liked the character.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's her lips, man. I can't stop staring at her freaking lips. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
But you like Christopher Judge's! ;-)

I know what you mean though. Fiona in Burn Notice has a thicker upper lip, I think due to bad plastic surgery, and that annoys me greatly. Don't let Jolie's lips put you off Sky Captain though; she's a minor character, but a good one.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
His look like natural human lips. Hers look like they were grown in a vat and then grafted to her face. Which for all I know may well actually be the case. :)

[sniggers]

I really need to make my Claudia :-P icon.

[identity profile] crycraven.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
ooo I want to see that again! I saw it in Toronto a looooong time ago.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen it twice now, plus the special features which explained how they made it. Very, very cool.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Good result for you... I got Padme. :-p

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Eep. Nice icon, though.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! At least she wasn't too bad in the second movie... I wince a bit when I watch her in the third. :(

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-06-30 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. How many lines did she get in the third? Because that is the total number of lines for any female character. Grrr.
