We have flea markets too, and there's a big one in south Auckland. There was also a craft market in the city that's been closed down to my sorrow; that's the only sort of shopping I like. But no, at those markets, people have a stall each where they sell their own stuff. A proper garage sale is where a houssehold sells from their garage,, so the one I went to has the wrong name. I am a pedant and it annoys me as it was held in a church hall, not a garage. They used to be called church or school fairs, but that term seems to have fallen out of fashion. Anyway, lots of people donate stuff they don't want, and it's all sold for the charity running it.

There's a huge book fair like that soon, but I find it almost frightening to go to: a large hall full of books, but even really sorted into any order, so it's pure luck if I find something good--which I have in the past--but five books from such a huge fair isn't really a good haul.
