Day 15 - Art Deco Cally

Today's [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo is another Art Deco Blake's 7 one, done this afternoon. I've just got back from an awesome night out at Apollo 13 - Mission Control (where I did things!) but I'll post about that tomorrow. :-D

Art Deco Cally

I had a go at a couple of costumes before settling on this one as being a nice simple one that could possibly look a bit Art Deco. Next will be Servalan. Bwahahaha.

My NaArMaMo 2009 Gallery is here.

Oh yummy!!! I always liked that outfit, practical as it wasn't...

Thanks! I noticed in the screen caps that the neck piece wasn't actually attached to the rest; that or it had come adrift. :-P I was going to use her Killer one but I couldn't find any pictures of how it went below the waist and how much of the trousers showed (and was too lazy to check the DVD).

My recollection from when I made it is that there was a tight-fitting undergarment covering her arms and legs (not clear whether it was separate top and leggings, or all in one), and then a fairly close-fitting bodice of the same material (with white trimmings) and a longish skirt, which had slits most of the way up the back and the sides. And boots. The best shot I found was of her walking down a corridor of the Liberator, seen from behind.

But this is very nice too.

I actually used pipecleaner Cally for reference in the end but failed at showing the leggings and boots. That's why her hair was blowing in the wind; I was trying to move the front panel out of the way, but it didn't look right.

I'd never realized how well the bracelets and guns supported a deco interpretation, but they really do.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps I should do another with her in the Coat. :-)

[identity profile] redstarrobot.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
The Coat may not be deco per se, but it could be made very 1930s indeed. :)

I may have a go at some point. :-)

Yes! I was just about to say the same :)

That's another lovely one. You've really given her the Art Deco look in the shape of her face and the zig-zags for the curls in her hair.

I always liked that outfit and it adapts very nicely to the Art Deco style.

Dayna in her Aftermath greek robe could be beautifully Deco.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I thought of that one for Dayna, but the green dress might adapt well too.

What a lovely drawing! I think Cally works better in that style than Jenna does (but I'm really looking forward to Servalan, who was made for it). :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Servalan was indeed! I already know what I'm doing with her for a pose, but I've got a large choice of outfits to pick from.

If you're enjoying working with the concept, why stop at one? :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-16 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
True!

[identity profile] nautile26.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's wonderful. Cally really has a figure that is well suited to the Art Deco style. Love the bracelet. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-15 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I thought of adding the bracelet quite late but it worked well for her.

Lovely they all look so stylish in Art Deco.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-16 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's a fun style!

Awesome!

Thanks!

Very glam... :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-16 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
Stunning. Do you think it would work as an icon?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe just her face, or down to her hand. I was thinking of making some past art into icons.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Moving the picture around on screen, I think it's possible to get the teleport bracelet in too, but not as far as the gun.

Looking forward to Soolin. I bet these would look great all lined up against each other when you're done.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking of doing Dayna and Soolin together, just for a change.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, yes, I like that idea!
