Day 10 - Glazed Cats

Today's [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo art is a quick one of a pair of cat ornaments (since my attempt to draw some flowers in the garden didn't work out). These little guys are matt white with a partial multi-coloured glaze, and sit on my filing cabinet. I bought them at a craft market, seduced by their sweet faces and pretty colours.

Awww. They're so cute! I can see why you bought them. I love your 'glaze' work. Very shiny.

Thanks! They were a cute pair that needed a good home. ;-)

These are wonderful--so sweet. You've captured precious expressions.

I think I did get those right, though the glaze is more complex with different colours splashed through. :-)

I wanted to see them here too. I think they would please everyone, every sad person, every unhappy child - they just warm one“s heart!!!

They are very pleasing rounded shapes, very simple but for the glaze. I can tell how they were done: dipped in blue (their ears too) then with other colours added. I also have two tall Art Deco style cats glazed by the same potter in the same colours, but all over.

Oh, gorgeous, you can see the shine and brilliance so clearly :)

Thanks! It's amazing what a few highlights will do!

OOh, shiny! They really make me want to pick them up and feel how smooth and cool they are.

They're lovely and rounded, but lighter than you'd expect because they're hollow despite looking so solid. I think they're standard shapes; the two Art Deco ones I got from the same potter (ion the same glaze) I also have in straw-fired terracotta.

Makes sense. I remember WAY back in the dawn of time when I went to a community recreation center, they had a supply of molds bought from a catalog that served artists & artisans, etc.

Pretty and the you have made them look glazed.

Thanks! They almost look as if they're dressed in the glaze, the smoothness and shine being so different from the unglazed white.
