Happy birthday to Jasmin

It's Jasmin's first birthday today, and she gets a new icon which shows her much darker face. I like the four petal-like lobes of her mask. She's still very much a teenager though, all long legs and coltishness. :-) She, Ashley, and Vic get the traditional birthday tuna tonight.

Jasmin emerging from our bed covers. The other morning she borrowed so deep, she went off the bottom end and was trapped in a tight hammock of sheet till I rescued her. :-)


Leggy little teenager. She still has a look of the kitten about her, but Ashley now looks very adult.


Birthday girl: a photo taken this morning of her on a bedroom chair, on an old towel I put there for her. The white bit's a tri-pillow I use for reading in bed, and when I flung it there and found she liked snuggling under it, I left it there for her.

She definitely still has some "kittenish" qualities, but oh my is she a beautiful cat! In that third pic she has that teenage "stop buggin me" look for sure. lol

Tessa had the same look with her golden eyes in a dark face, but neither of them meant/mean it. I think it's the eye-shape or something. Some visitors took a dislike to dear little Tessa for perceived expressions, and of all our cats, she was the sweetest and gentlest.

Jasmin is growing into a very beautiful girl from a rather awkward little kitten :-)

Ashley's the one with the furry ears: heaps of white fur on their insides. :-) Jasmin's a lovely warm colour now (she was rather pale as a kitten), all caramel and milk chocolate! The second picture is the best one for colour.

Happiness got some tuna yesterday, not because it was anybody's birthday, but because I was having some myself and I can't not share. As soon as she smells it, she comes running right out and informs me very loudly that OMG, she will die if she doesn't have tuna right now!!!!!! (She uses at least that many exclamation marks. :))

Oddly enough, the other two don't care that much, which is good, as Vir's on a diet and Nova has a delicate stomach. :)

They also get tuna when we have some. Actually we all had tuna last night--I made fish cakes--and the cats got theirs before Greg got home because Ashley was crying so piteously at the smell as I was making the fish cake mix.

When I was a kid, our custom was that the birthday girl (or in my father's case, boy) got to decide what would be for dinner that evening. Since the cat's vote would undoubtedly be for tuna, I'm feeling as if you're following that custom (that I'm still a bit sentimental about) in your household as well.

We had that same custom! I always asked for fish (flounder to be exact) and trifle for dessert, and my mother used to say I should request something more festive, but that's what I wanted.

We do still follow that custom if we're not going out for birthday meals, but I don't usually do it for myself, just for Greg.

My cats have always had special fishy birthday dinners too, as well as for Christmas (last year it was turkey for Christmas rather than tuna). And just the other night Cilla went off the end of the bed that way in the middle of the night and had to be rescued!
