Four cats and a weta
It's been a while since I posted any photos, so here are some of Claudia, Vic, Jasmin, and Ashley--and a weta one of the cubs brought in last week. The icon BTW is from a photo of Claudia, who often forgot to retract her tongue. I'm sure she doesn't mind being remembered this way. :-)
Four cats and a weta
Three girls together on the heatpad
Claudia and Ashley. Both of these were taken a few weeks before Claudia died.
Vic in a snuggler. We ended up buying three of these because the cats love them so.
Ashley and Jasmin: butter wouldn't melt
A twisted little cat: Jasmin sleeping. I have no idea how she can be comfortable like that, but she is.
Ashley doing her "come and cuddle me" pose. It works every time.
Jasmin looking very like Tessa did. She usually looks like herself but for some reason this and the next photo are very Tessa.
Jasmin in the sphinx pose
A deceased weta one of the cubs brought in. Wetas are native insects, and you may know our SFX company Weta which was did the LOTR work; named after this little guy. I've always liked wetas though my school friends of both sexes were often scared of them. I kept one as a pet for a while, but I don't think apple cores were the right diet. :-P

Yeeeeeeeeeek, a Weta!!!!!!!! I'm one of those total cowards that bursts into the living room going "THERE'S A WETA IN THE BATHROOM!!! 8O" -- and flails meaningfully until somebody else goes and removes the Weta outside. XD

I don't mind insects except for bees and wasps because they can hurt me. [admits to frightening boys at school with wetas] My sister had a thing about moths though and would bumble about the room flailing just like they did. :-P

And I have a thing about moths as well, but I know what caused it. A large furry moth had crawled into my bed and when I lay down it crawled out across my face lust as I was falling asleep.

Eep. I don't like the way theu turn to slimy dust when you touch them, but otherwise I don't mind them.

I love the Weta, btw. Never heard of them, never saw one when in NZ, and would definitely have had one as a pet.

The pet weta didn't last long; wrong diet and the stress of being taken to school, I suspect. We buried him in a chocolate box in the garden and sang a sad song.

I had a friend whose cat used to sleep curled up upside down propped up against the wall. He'd be curled up like Vic above, but with his head on the floor and his torso up in the air.
Frankie's favourite place to be was always where anyone else was already sitting. You were supposed to shift for him :-D

Iella seems to be a bendy cat and I have once seen her sleeping in the twisted post that Jasmin's in. The breed standard for Skogkatts is for a long tail, that should reach at least to the shoulder blades, and preferable the back of the neck. Iella certainly has a long tail, and often carries it arched over her back. When she does that and tilts her head back, the end of the tail virtually brushes her ears.
Little Vila only had a short tail, but would sleep on his back, propped against the back of the armchair, with all four white paws in the air. So sweet.

Sorry, hit return too early. I wanted to say awwww about Vila, and is that him in the icon? :-)

Jasmin sleeping looks like she's having a stretch.
So that's a Weta. That thing is like a huge grasshopper, only more spiky. No wonder your school friends were scared.

Jasmin was fast asleep like that, and she's often stretched out fully; I think she gets hot on the heatpad. Last night, she and Ashley were both squashed into one snuggler and Ashley was asleep with her head, shoulder, and front paws straight out over the side as if caught in a dive. :-)

I like your icon, too! Muffin often sits with his tongue out, too, though not usually as far as that!
That's a nice picture of Vic in the snuggler - I'm glad that they've been a success: it looks like the sort of thing that you sometimes buy and they won't go near it...

Claudia did it often, and always made us smile. I only got a few photos of it though, and not very good ones.
We bought one snuggler for Greg's computer chair when he's not using it to keep all the fur off, mostly Vic's and Ashley's, and it was such a success we got two more. They're very reasonable, esp compared to the ghastly price of most pet beds, and washable. I used to have one on my lap for Claudia, who liked the extra comfort, being so bony at the end.

Aww they do look so cute snuggled together.
That Weta looks like Jiminy Cricket or the cute bug that was Mulan's Cricket companion. Not scary at all.
Mind you I only find wasps and bees scary and that's only because they sting.

I am so happy the two new cats got on so well with Claudia, and with each other. That's my third pair of devoted companions; yay!
Same! I think wetas are thing of beauty and even have a carved one.

*squeaks at picture of weta and runs away* :-p

I'd never even heard of a weta until I saw this post! That's cool that Weta Workshop is named for them. That Weta also did the armor and other effects on Xena: Warrior Princess if I'm not mistaken. I learned something new today, which is made of win.
