Five icons
I drew this because I needed a knitting icon after I took it up late last year. I'm not sure what else to say about it. I haven't actually knitted anything resembling the piece shown, but I may now I know how to knit zigzag stripes.
I got this from an icon comm to use for Hanukkah, which is a pretty specialised purpose. However it's also not that specific in picture or text, so I can use it in other ways, e.g. to represent peace or sympathy. Not that I have, much. It's a pretty icon though.
I made this for an icon challenge where we had to replace the background of a picture with a different one. It's Avon from Blake's 7 against a pattern that reminded me vaguely of computer chips. As no one else bagged it and I rather liked the effect, I kept it.
I'm named after Nicola Marlow, one of the complex and fascinating characters created by Antonia Forest for her series about the Marlows. About half the books are school stories; the rest take place in holidays. This is the cover of Falconer's Lure and shows Nicola with a falcon (the story takes place during a summer holiday in which she and a neighbouring boy spend a lot of time with his falcons). I added the text "reader's lure". :-) I only really use this icon in the Marlows community trennels.
Ah yes, I made this in December 2004 back when everyone was putting santa hats on their icons. I resisted for a time, but I made up a larger picture of Vila with gifts, none of them paid for, for a Blake's 7 Christmas card, and created this icon from it. I see I've covered two festivals here. :-)
