Cat and kitten picspam

I went to the pet supplies place today and on one of the toys (a sort of springy octopus I resisted buying) there was a label with a happy cat face you'd swear was Ashley. Pity I can't hire her out as a model and live off her earnings. :-P Anyway I realised that I hadn't posted any pictures of the little fur-balls for a while.

Nine pictures including a cat pile

Jasmin up a tree
Jasmin up a tree. She loves climbing and has only been treed once. So far.

Ashley watches from the ground
Ashley watches from the ground underneath.

White tiger and lion
They say that a cat provides humans with a chance to caress the tiger (though I've actually done that). This is the closest I'll get to having a white tiger and a lion of my own. :-)

Ashley sits up
Ashley sits up and takes notice.

Ashley shows off her tummy
Ashley shows her tummy with its spots, and the black undersides of her feet. When I stroke her, she rolls on her back like this and puts her front paws up beside her head. So adorable!

Cat pile!
You've heard of otter piles; here's a cat pile! They're all actually asleep here. Jasmin looks utterly (almost otterly) ecstatic, and you can see Ashley's face at the front, under Claudia's.

All four
All four of them in one shot!

Jasmin and Ashley in Claudia's bed
Jasmin and Ashley in Claudia's bed. I couldn't decide between two shots I took of this. Jasmin looks surprised, but Ashley's sweet face makes up for it.

Jasmin and Ashley in Claudia's bed
On the other hand, they both look gorgeous from above. I love their markings.

AWWWWWWWW, kittehs! :^)

(Ok, it's 1:20 A.M. and my brain is shut down, so that's as clever as my comments get. Lovely kitties. *hugs*)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
They are! I love them to bits.

[identity profile] wolfma.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Awwwww, they're beautiful!

I need to take pictures of our little pride.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love to see them!

[identity profile] thetisonline.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
What wonderful piccies. I like the one of all of them asleep in a little pile!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
They are absolute darlings and they make me very happy. Even Claudia who puked all over the landing this morning after pigging out on biscuits and grass. :-P

[identity profile] snowgrouse.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Eeee, gorgeous. Jasmin's colourings are developing nicely. And Ashley's eyes are amazing! Especially in that one where she's on the ground. I get looks like that from Noki sometimes:).

I wouldn't have realised they were all asleep in the pile if you hadn't told us--they look like they're all nibbling each other! ♥

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Ashley's a little stunner! I'm glad she's got green eyes because most of my cats have had gold or yellow eyes. We had a cat when I was a kid who had the most beautiful jade eyes, and I made this icon from a photo I found on line which looked just like him. I love Jasmin's rich gold eyes too; they're like Tessa's, and Sigi's, a sweet tabby I had years ago.

I'm so happy they get on so well.

Claudia does look as if she's grooming Ashley, but I think she went to sleep during the process. :-P They weren't moving and I took about four photos with different settings, but this one was the best.

[identity profile] crycraven.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, they are lovely - Ashley's eyes are stunning! You can see why the Ancients were in awe of cats...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
They look so mysterious and wise. And why not since they worked out how to teleport without bracelets ages ago? ;-)

I really should get a picture of them near my Egyptian cat statue in the garden (beside the Roman one). :-)

[identity profile] ultrapsychobrat.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Love the pictures, especially the one that shows Jasmin's black feet. They're all just wonderful--lucky you, lucky them.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ashley's black feet are so cute, and unusual in my experience; I've seen a lot of white socks, but no black boots till now. She also has a black splodge on the roof of her mouth, and black between her toes. :-)

They're all gorgeous! I am lucky! The kittens are the best things that happened to me in a crap year.

Ashley's eyes are so green... amazing. And they're all so beautifully coloured...

They are, stunners all! :-D

Oh, they are all so beautiful!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
They are, and they're the sweetest things too (though Vic is a wee bit of a thug at times). :-)

Pretty kitties! :) My cats hate each other, so getting all three of them in one picture is impossible.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
I was worried about how Jasmin would fit in, then Ashley when I got her, as I have friends with cats who dislike each other, but they get on so well. The kittens are my third pair of close friends, and Claudia is like their loving (and often annoyed) aunt. :-)

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, so pretty! And kitty pile! My kitties never snuggle like that.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Vic has never done more than touch noses. He prefers to get his cuddles from humans, though he doesn't mind the other cats. Claudia used to put him in his place, but she's been much more tolerant of him since the kittens arrived; I think she's a lot happier. She missed Tessa so much, I think she resented him for being there when Tessa wasn't.

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
That photo of the 4 together does remind me of a pride of lions, the females and cubs in one group with the male separated a little from his 'harem'. All it needed was a tiny kit sneaking up Vick to play pounce on him and it would be a perfect example of the kinship of cat kind.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's coincidence. Vic doesn't take much interest in them apart from a very short play occasionally with Jasmin or Ashley. He's also a bit nervous of Claudia, but she's been a lot happier since the kittens came. I think she's the matriarch.

Your cats are stunningly beautiful. And Ashley's green eyes are just astonishing.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
They are! We had a tabby cat when I was a kid who looked just like this icon (from a photo found on line) and he had the most beautiful jade eyes. I really should scan in a close-up my brother took of him. Ashley's aren't quite as green, but they're still very different from those of other cats I've had; they've been yellow, yellow-green or the rich gold of Jasmin's (Tessa and Sigi both had that colour). Ashley's are a cool green that's just lovely with her fur.

[identity profile] miss-next.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww! What a lovely start to the day. :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
They are to mine too! :-)

[identity profile] daiseechain.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
They're adorable.

I've never seen a cat with completely black foot soles.

Does poor Vic never get invited to sleep in the cat pile? Or does he prefer being aloof and manly?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
I've never seen it either; white socks seem to be more common. Ashley's soles and pads are completely black, and you can see black between her toes too. :-)

No, Vic's never cuddled up to another cat; he prefers human contact. He doesn't mind the others, but the closest he gets is a nose-kiss and the occasional short game with Jasmin or Ashley. It's his choice. :-)

And that cat looks rather like Ashley!

Ah, I miss cat piles, my current pair don't make 'em. Lovely pics.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
This is the first time I've had more than two that snuggle, and you need at least three for a pile. :-)

I love the new icon! And the lovely pictures. Ashley looks like as if she's in one of those black and white photos with the eyes picked out in green!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Like [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen's icon, a little further up!

Have you ever seen Pleasantville? A wonderful film in which two teenagers end up in the B&W world of a 50s sitcom and gradually change it, bringing colour and freedom. After I watched it, Claudia looked like a Pleasantville cat, still grey among the bright colour of her surroundings.

[identity profile] san-valentine.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
I was wondering how the kitties were getting on, so nice to see pics and have an update.

And looking at the pics of Ashley, I'm beginning to think I want a silver tabby. But then, I'd like a Norweigan Forest, a Burmese, a Birman, and I love torties etc...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
But don't Norwegian Forest love the outdoors and have really thick coats? Birmans are gorgeous--their coats and eyes are so beautiful--but I'd be concerned about the grooming needed and the shedding; Vic's bad enough. But I now have a Furminator to groom them with; I got heaps of underfur off Claudia, and no other comb's worked on her.

There are lots of cats I'd love to have, including Patsy's (the woman who bred Jasmin) Bengals, though I actually prefer the marbled ones she finds it harder to sell rather to the more popular spotted ones. But they're twice as much as her Burmese, and besides, Ashley is just as beautiful in her way. :-) I'm very happy with my little guys.

[identity profile] kalinda001.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the cat pile! And Ashley showing her tummy with its spot is just adorable.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
She often just rolls over like that when I speak to her. :-) She's a dear little smoochy girl.

How beautiful and happy they look!

They are, and they make me so happy too. :-D

[identity profile] bigdamnxenafan.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwww they are soooo precious! I love teh kitties! We've got two, Rascal and MooMoo Kitty(who grew into her name like you wouldn't believe lol).

Yours are so adorable! Such wonderful markings and sweet faces. Are they all friendly kitties?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
MooMoo Kitty(who grew into her name like you wouldn't believe lol

You mean she makes cow-like noises, or she resembles a B&W cow?

If you're interested, I have other cat pictures under the "cats" tag. Our beloved Tessa, Claudia's best friend, died last year, and she was so lonely, I got Jasmin for her to mother. They bonded so well, and Jasmin annoyed Claudia by trying to play with her (she has kidney disease) so I got Ashley from a shelter to be her playmate--and another pair of lifetime companions. :-)

I was very taken with the black soles of Ashley's feet. Though all the pics are gorgeous.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Her black soles are very unusual; at least I've never seen them before. You can see the black between her toes too; so cute.

Kittehs!

I love living vicariously through my flist. I want kittehs, but I'll settle looking at your gorgeous girls (and Vic, of course). ^_^

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. You might miss out on cuddles, but also the stinky kitten-poos in the litter and the vomit (Claudia, twice in two days). And Claudia standing on your head about ten times last night. :-P

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2009-01-10 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Aww they are gorgeous. Ashley is a beautiful Silver Tabby and it's amazing to think she was a Shelter kitten, still heir loss is definitely your gain.

The fur pile made me grin - how do they manage to sleep like that - if we tried we'd end up totally unable to move.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-01-10 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I was lucky to get Ashley before she went up on the website! This was because I rang up and said I was looking for an older kitten and was told about her. A baby would have been lovely too, but scatty little Jasmin really needed a stabilising influence, and besides, the older ones tend to be passed over.

The shelter specialises in abandoned and rescued cats and kittens, and even had a Birman adult (but not for long).

[identity profile] pet-lunatic.livejournal.com 2009-01-10 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, they're so gorgeous! I am envious of your adorable kitties!

Maybe one day... :-) Are you a cat or dog person? As I said, we had spaniels and I loved them dearly, but I'm really a cat person. I like their independence and quirks, and I don't have to exercise them. ;-)
