Cards, and kitten picspam!

I got two beautiful cards today from friends in the UK: a Holmes one, and a cat one. Thank you!

I have finally finished my B7 card, and Greg has printed it at work. It probably won't get to the people I send it to in time, but don't worry; I'll post the pictures and the text on the right day (which is not Christmas day). [looks mysterious] This one was more complicated than most. I had to draw nine separate pictures on transparent backgrounds, paste them together, add some extra stuff, and make up the card. I know I should realise that December is coming, but I never seem to. :-P Next year I'll try to think up, design, and make a card in November.

In the meantime, have some kitten picspam!

Ashley and Jasmin

Ashley and cyclotron. Yes, I have another nerdy kitten!

She watches with scientific interest as the large particle accelerates round.

This was all I could see of my monitor yesterday. I moved the mouse around in the infinity symbol. and watched Jasmin's head weave as she followed it. This was not a good idea. She came back wanting more. Both she and Ashley watch TV too.

Ashley poses. This is rarer than you'd think; it's hard to get pictures of a friendly and eager kitten who charges you as soon as you look at her.

Ashley writhes with pleasure. The sharper stripes on her tummy are the fur growing back after her neutering operation.

Ashley is in the "muse" spot that Claudia used to sit in while I worked. She too sits quietly so I don't realise she's there, but usually on the other couch. She's almost always in the room I'm in. :-)
And yes, those are Vila pictures in the background.

Jasmin took a liking to my books from the first. She bites them. :-P It took me a while to convince her to come off this shelf. That blue thing BTW is one of the two bulb-shaped lamps I bought at the garage sale I went to a few months ago.

Ashley and Jasmin on the couch. Look! They're sitting so close already! They'll be cuddling soon, going by Claudia and Tessa's history. I can hear the thunder of tiny paws upstairs as I type. :-D

N'aww, KITTIES. So cute. Thanks for the pics, Ashley is gorgeous. Her colouring just reminds me of licorice ice-cream:D.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
With peppermint eyes! :-)

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww, kitties are ADORABLE. I love how friendly Ashley looks, and Jasmin in the books! LOL Makes me want more cats. :D:D:D

Also, your card sounds EPIC. Can't wait to see it!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ashley is incredibly friendly. They're both equally cuddly and playful now, but Jasmin had to get to know us; Ashley loved me right from the first.

I had this idea for my card, and of course it was easy to think of--just harder to execute. :-)

Very cute. They seem to be settling in together. I do fear for your glassware above the books however. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
It's behind glass sliding doors, and the kittens can't touch it. :-)

They are starting to play together a lot now, and each follows the other around. I'm really hoping they'll be the lifelong friends Claudia and Tessa were.

What adorable little nugglies! :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
They are! I'm so glad they're getting on so well.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Very nice (and cute) photos. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! The subjects are adorable.

Oh, and I got your card too! There will be one in the mail. :-)

kitten melty goodness :0)

So do they shave their tummies for the op then? Here they do it on their sides

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, all my cats had their tummies shaved and stitched, and though Jasmin and Ashley went to different vets (because her foster home had her done), it's in the same place. Ashley has dissolving stitches, and either they've done so, or she's taken them out, as Claudia did. Jasmin has to go back in about a week to get hers out.

Such a darling duo--love these kitties!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and I do! :-D

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
Pussums book ends and both of them know who and where Mum is. It's good that they are playing with each other, it gives you and the older cats some peace. They are adorable.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Claudia and Tessa did the bookend thing a lot; I hope these two will have that sort of rapport. They are usually in the room I'm in, which is usually nice (except when they're scaling the adventure playground climbing surfaces and knocking my ornaments and books down. ;-)

She watches with scientific interest as the large particle accelerates round.

Hee! =^.^=

Jasmine pillaging the bookshelf is too funny. XD

They've both got such gorgeous eyes.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
They have! I'm pleased they're different and lovely colours: rich gold and clear green.

Ashley hasn't noticed the sonic screwdriver yet--or seen any DW or SJA. :-)

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Gorgeous pictures of pretty kitties.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[identity profile] jecono.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 11:11 am (UTC)(link)
Aww - so cute! I'm so looking forward to having cats again one day.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe when Nele is older! I was about 3 when we got our first kitten, and I was totally in love (and thought she had a cold when she purred). I was 5 or 6 when we got a puppy, and perhaps that is a better age because children at that age can also be taught how to look after a pet (put their food bowl down, make sure they have water etc) and not just play. :-)

I also think that children who have pets have a lot more empathy for animals that those who don't and see them as 'other' or something to be scared of.

What an adorable icon!

She's great watching the monitor!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
And it shows how much bigger she's got in six weeks!

I have some cat play sites bookmarked (butterflies etc) but I'm not sure about using them with an LCD screen. She might scratch it.

[identity profile] popcorn-oracle.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, your cats are all so pretty! And that's awesome that they watch TV/computer screens at times ^^; And nerd kitties haha <3.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you see Jasmin with the cyclotron and the sonic screwdriver? (http://vilakins.livejournal.com/421272.html) :-D

Claudia used to watch TV as a kitten but lost interest. Tessa adored the 'Zoo Programme', the 'Lion Man', and other nature shows, all her life. :-)

[identity profile] kalypso-v.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Tabby and Rosie will sit at opposite ends of the sofa - anything closer risks a squabble. I hope yours will get on much better than that! They are both very pretty.

Maybe Ashley should go and sort out the LHC problems in Switzerland. It looks like she's got a firm grasp of the technology.

Does Jasmin just sit on top of the books? Mine have this slightly odd habit of sitting behind them. They knock over a couple of the smaller ones to make a hole big enough to climb through, and then hide behind the taller ones.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
They're playing beautifully now, touching noses, and eating side-by-side. I've yet to see them snuggle, but it will happen; they're going through the stages I've seen with previous cats quite fast.

Cats know all about physics and even teleportation, but do not feel we're ready for the knowledge.

I shall hide this comment from Jasmin! I don't think there's room behind my books, but she likes getting on top of them, and bites anything I'm reading.

[identity profile] toft-froggy.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, what beautiful cats!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't they! I'm so happy they like each other too.

What's your icon from?

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... they are going to be such good friends. Jasmin already has the beauty pose for sitting down pat, I see. I've always loved the coloring of silver tabbies. The closest I ever came to having one was my Zsa-Zsa -I think she was actually an extremely dilute gray and fawn tabby calico and white.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, we call that position The Slug. We have names for most of them (Snake, Vulture, Ugly, Lizard, Cashew Nut, Sphinx, and Babes in the Wood--for two cats etc).

Ashley is very pure shades or grey that make Claudia's grey look warm and faintly brownish. Ashley does have touches of beige on her nose and under her eyes, and I notice that her spinal black stripe has red light in sunlight. I don't think silver tabbies are that common' I haven't seen many. My Sigi was a brown tabby with beige underside, and Petra was a darker tabby with white nuzzle, socks, and underside. They were both very beautiful too.

[identity profile] kalinda001.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
They're so sweet! I just want to hold them and hug them.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So do I! They're so playful now they've bonded, I have to wait till they tire themselves out.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ashley is so adorable! Awww, kitties. :)

And my cats like to get between me and the monitor, too. Sigh. Sometimes I also have to sort of type around them. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall have to train them to sit on my lap. I can type around them, but being visual, I have to see my monitor. They both run over keyboards too, but so far haven't done anything harmful.

Stunning. They are so beautiful - and I love the snippets of your house, all those Vila pics hahhaaaa. I never asked what your other half makes of it all...does Greg laugh at you? Is he fannish?

I dreamt about kittens last night.
After those pics I may have to get another dragon!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I should take pictures of my fannish stuff--and my plushie collection.

Greg doesn't mind my fannishness since he's like that about different series (he has Prisoner and Cars stuff, and is crazy about Lost). He likes Vila too, and always reads my stories. :-)

I don't get the whole dragon thing. Can you play with them?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
They're very lively cats, full of personality and individual quirks!

It's great having cats running around again. I've missed that for the last couple of years when Tessa and Claudia slowed down.

I'm sure Tygr adds joy and serenity to your house!

More gorgeous photos! I wonder what the chooks would make of the cyclotron....

I could have sworn I saw Ashley's tail twitch in that first image, but it's a jpeg, so it couldn't have. Must've been my browser moving the page slightly as it finished loading.

I use the infinity symbol if I'm just moving the mouse pointer around aimlessly!

You could try them with some toys!

I do too, which is why I did it with Jasmin. :-) I'd find one of those flash games for cats, but I'm worried she's scratch the LCD screen.

She is! My first two cats were two months apart like these two, and that worked really well. Ashley of course hasn't changed much in 5 days. but I'm sure her fur is softer and glossier, and of course she's looking very much at home now. :-)
