Geekness

First of all, today is, besides being Armistice Day, my journal's birthday. It's five years old, and those have been five great years with you lovely people. This is the perfect community for introverts like me. :-)

Secondly, behold: The Darth Vader Toaster. BSG is more your thing and you'd like a Cylon toaster? It's probably sold out, but hey, you could get the real thing. ;-)

And now for your pleasure, I present Jasmin the Geeky Kitten.

Cyclotron and sonic screwdriver

Jasmin plays with her cyclotron. There's only one large yellow hadron in it, so there's no danger of collisions. There's also a stupid mouse on a spring, but she's not interested in that. She wants to see that particle accelerate.

I left my sonic screwdriver pen on a glass table (I'm using it to mark off rows on my Doctor Who scarf pattern) and found Jasmin trying to get it from underneath.

She was pretty determined, too. :-) Any strange marks on her are reflections.

Happy Anniversary to your journal! I've really enjoyed your posts.

Jasmin the Geeky Kitty! I love it. She looks so soft and fuzzy and very determined indeed.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
She is both of those things, and a little geek. She is now on my computer desk checking everything out. :-)

Heh, the first sonic screwdriver image, if you didn't know that there was a glass table there, it looks like she just tossed it into the air. Definitely a LOLcat waiting to happen.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
I know! It's like this Claudia icon, but I had the Liberator on cotton.

Happy Anniversary!

Now, I've been looking for a new toaster and I think the Vader one would be just the thing. :)

Jasmin is a delight; I thought at first that you had photoshopped the image of the sonic screwdriver onto a photo of Jasmin. Great photos!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, if I'd photoshopped it, I hope the images would have been sharper. :-) I do think the Doctor should have a cat companion.

Congratulations on your journal!
Jasmin! She definitely belongs, with those gadgets and all :-)
The last photo is endearing - this expression, the paw!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
She's a darling! She's a geek, all right; she's just been checking out my computer desk, and did some typing before.

Happy anniversary!

Those are great photos - she looks so puzzled in the second one, and so intent in the first and third. And how perfect that such a geeky little kitty has found a home with you :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! :-)

She certainly fits in well. :-)

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
That Cylon toaster is awesome! I want one! But that's a lot for a toaster.

And, awww, kitty and the screwdriver. So cute. <3

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
I rather fancy the Darth Vader one, but they'd have to be available here for me to bother; you guys only run at half the voltage we do.

It was so cute! She knows what glass is because she walks around on it, but from underneath I suppose she couldn't see the reflections and though the screwdriver was floating. :-)

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
I see kitty loves her toys. :-p

Darth Vader toaster... LOL.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
I know. I WANT ONE!

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
Happy journal anniversary :0)

Love the pics of Jasmin trying to get your sonic screwdriver :0)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
I laughed so much when I saw her doing it. :-D

[identity profile] azdak.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
Jasmin and the sonic screwdriver are hilarious! She looks so determined, bless her!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
She's a very determined little kitten.

The only way I can be on-line with her in the room (as now) is by hanging a stuffed fish on a bungee from a knob on my chair so she'll play with that and not either climb all over my desk and keyboard, or knock things over. :-P I'm sure you know what that's like, and you have two of them!

BWAHAHAHA! Those toasters are the greatest thing ever! XD

Oh, Jasmine. So fuzzy and adorable and unutterably geeky. Looks like she wants to be more sonic. ;P

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
If they sold them here, I'd buy one.

Jasmin is a geeek! She sits all over my Doctor Who scarf too, and bites the yarn.

Jasmin is simply too adorable to be believed. :)

And Happy LJ Anniversary!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
She is!

Thank you! :-)

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you see this toaster? It hooks up to the computer and will toast any image or text. It's not in production yet (and may never be) but I think that would be the coolest ever- you could get very creative.
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/09/11/wacky_toaster/

Jasmin is wonderful!

I did once run across a comic in a multimedia zine where the doctor had a cat he named Harry because it was clumsy and always knocking things over.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I did see that while I was looking at toasters. I don't want news on my toast though. It would give me indigestion.

Jasmin does that too, esp my little Romans and Asterix figures.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
If I was paying $8,0000 I'd want the real thing with working blasters (grin).
Jasmin is a delight and as she knows what glass is evidently she was enjoying playing with it even though she knows that she can't get through the glass. Our cats do a lot of that with the gerbil.
At the moment I'm surrounded by cats as I'm on my laptop trying to get enough energy together to get dressed for work. It's hard to move with a purring cat on top of you.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Jasmin is playing under my chair right now with a dangly toy I put there.

You are what we call catted! :-)

[identity profile] san-valentine.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely photos, but the second one is particularly fab. It looks as though she's on a chair, making the sonic screwdriver float above her in a conjouring trick.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
She does! I had to include that one even though I hadn't moved the tissues out of camera range.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy birthday, Nico's LJ! Wow, has it really been five years?! Geez, time really does pass quicker the older you get. :)

And it's just as well Jasmin didn't get her paws on the sonic screwdriver. Can you imagine how dangerous such technology could be in the hands of cats? :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
But it passes very slowly when you're marking voters off the master roll, :-P

Cats can already teleport and read minds. They don't really need sonic screwdrivers. :-)

[identity profile] miss-next.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
She is one cute adorable geeklet. :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
She is! But I think she's the most manically active kitten I've ever had. Poor Claudia is an unwilling plaything though they do cuddle up together now in Jasmin's few quiet times.

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, she looks a determined kitty! Happy anniversary!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! She is, and she's now behind the UPS checking the wiring.

[identity profile] ultrapsychobrat.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
What a cutie!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-12 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks; she is!

[identity profile] snowgrouse.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeeeeeee! I love that. Nerd toys for nerd cats. That is beautiful:D.

And LJ is brilliant for introverts. Especially the sort of people who like deep conversations with their friends but who aren't crazy about excessive socialising IRL!:)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-12 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
She's standing on my graphics tablet at the moment... and now sniffing my mouse. I just know she's going to get on the internet like the others. ;-)

So true. I love all the contact, but when I want it. :-)

[identity profile] jecono.livejournal.com 2008-11-11 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy Anniversary! I am glad to have met you! *hugs*

And Jasmin is such a cute little cat - so adorable! The look on her face in the last picture is priceless!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-12 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad we met too!

Jasmin is very cute, and constantly on the go (she's sniffing my keyboard right now). :-D

Happy lj-versery!

And awww, Jasmin is so sweet! Those pictures are just begging to be giving te [livejournal.com profile] ihasatardis treatment.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-12 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, they so do!

Belated happy 5th anniversary to your journal!

Love the shots of Jasmine. I wonder if she could see the glass at all? Maybe it looked to her like the screwdriver was floating in mid-air?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it did. Although she has walked on that glass plenty of times. :-)

[identity profile] sorsha-khan.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy belated birthday Nico's journal :-)
Have been back-spying pics of Jasmin; she is beautiful! I love the little markings on her forehead - they make her look so serious :-)

Have seen Hail Mary & Mickey Mouse toasters before, but Darth Vader beats!

Must go - sis is trying to tell all about her new tattoo...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
She does look serious, especially when she's concentrating. She can look very happy and peaceful too, but that changes as soon as I get the camera out; any movement from me means PLAY!

[identity profile] emerald-happy.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
wow, she looks so intent! 'I must get to the screwdriver!' Adorable kitty. How long did she try and get at it for? Did she eventually jump on the table?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I played with her for a while with the screwdriver, and she did get--and still does get--on the table to bat things off. I love how it looks as if she's tossing it in the air.

The cyclotron has lost the stupid mouse-on-a-spring and the cats still love it. Jasmin was only the size of the cyclotron then; she's about twice the size now! :-)
