Jasmin pic

I wanted to get a picture of Jasmin playing with her cyclotron, but as soon as I got the camera out, she stopped. The cyclotron BTW is a small blue plastic toroid with holes that she can get her paws through to bat a yellow ball around in a circuit. There's only one hadron, so no collisions there. ;-) Vic likes this toy as well.

Anyway, I did manage to get a nice pic of her in a quiet moment. And look, I now have an icon for her.

She doesn't still look grumpy to you, does she? See, it's her markings: little stripes above her eyes and ridges between her ears, and funny little slipped spectacles which on her brother look like dissipated bags under the eyes. We've had her a week now, and I'm sure her points have got darker. I think she's gorgeous, and she's got a lovely personality: playful, lively, and very cuddly and affectionate.

Ha, she *does* look grumpy because of the frowny markings, but it's not like she can help it. (At least some dog breeds have it worse, and some *people* look permanently grumpy!) But I love that look she's giving the camera, very curious and interested and intelligent. Give her a scritch from me!

Aw, she's really cute. I think the grumpy markings make her look cuter. XD

To me, she looks a little serious and a little quizzical, which will (from her POV) come in useful if she develops a mischievous streak, and needs a "who me???" look :)

[Jamins purrs and wriggles onto her back as I do so]

I think the markings will be less obvious as her face gets darker. It'll end up the colour of chocolate, and I didn't notice the markings on the adult chocolate cats at Patsy's. Here's an example (http://rechercheburmesecats.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/rollo_rianon_003.19803311_std.JPG); his face is more like Tessa's.

She's adorable: so soft and cuddly and sweet. :-D I can recognise lots of different expressions already; this one's interested. Claudia OTOH only had one expression as a kitten: constant surprise at the world.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
She was wondering what I was doing with that thing, but not at all worried. As for a mischievous streak, she has one already. She knows she's not meant to go behind the TV and get down the gap behind the entertainment unit, but she does. Tessa was just the same.

My Bonnie always looks grumpy to me and I'm not really sure why I get the same effect from Jasmine... I just compared a photo of Bonnie to Jasmine, and I think the effect is caused by the shape of the eye, particularly the upper eyelid, not the markings.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
That could be so; visitors often thought Tessa was annoyed when she wasn't. She had very slanted golden eyes too, and when they're half-shut, she did look annoyed to others. To me though, Jasmin just looks interested, and I've seen her puzzled, sleepy, and ecstatic among other expressions. Claudia OTOH only had surprise in her repertoire for her first few weeks. :-)

Jasmin is lovely, and I hope you share more pics with us of her growing up.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I will! Especially landmarks like her first cuddle with Claudia. It will come. :-) Claudia doesn't mind her when she's sleeping or quiet and cuddly, though yesterday she was making running raids on Claudia's tail.

She's truly beautiful. She doesn't look grumpy--not that I thought she ever did. Her points are darker and I love the 'spectacles'.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I think she's gorgeous. I'm sure as her points darken, the markings will be less obvious. BTW she's a dear little scrap, even though she looks more adult than non-Oriental kittens do. :-) And awww, she has tiny ear-tufts, like Tessa did.

[identity profile] ultrapsychobrat.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, she does! My first cat many years ago had lynx ears that I just loved--she was a tiny flower cat that was half Siamese and never grew beyond 4 pounds.

[identity profile] azdak.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
She's absolutely beautiful. And she looks about the same age as our kittens (who would adore a cyclotron! Alas, they have to make do with pulling leaves off the house plants and doing Hamlet/Polonius impressions behind the curtains).

Mephisto doesn't look grumpy, but he's so utterly black that he often looks like the incarnation of pure evil. Then I have to give him a big cuddle and tell I know he's really just a little furry cat baby and that demons need someone to love them, too.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
No, not grumpy, the eyes are full of laughter, it is just the "make-up".She is a kissable little cat, "kočička", mmmm, and she will be a beautiful young lady soon! Nice pic!
BTW, I will try and get a picture of my daughter´s cat Nácíček - he, thanks hos markings, looks extremely tragical, really, you would cry. But what a king of mischief he is! Yes, I will try our cats today, you inspired me!:-)

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
She doesn't look grumpy to me, just puzzled, trying to work things out, like why is she pointing that thing at me. She looks like a very serious little kitty, but knowing kittens that is the last thing she is. She is enchanting now, when she's full grown she will be a beauty.

[identity profile] altariel.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
She looks alert and intelligent, and cuddly to boot.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Tessa had more defined tufts, but maybe Jasmin's will grow in more.

Awww, that's tiny! Claudia's 3kg and so was Tessa, and she was a little cat, but that's about 6.6lb. I think Jasmin's going to be bigger than either of them.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Of course you'd have dramatic kittens! :-D Jasmin likes the plants too, though I worry that some might be poisonous for her, and she also loves an old knitting needle, two toy mice, ping-pong balls, and the Cat of Many Tails. This is a long flexible rod with about 12 colourful suede strips attached. It sounds vicious, but all our cats have loved chasing and chewing it, and it's survived years of that.

I know what you mean: Tessa was very dark with gold eyes, and often people who didn't know what a gentle little darling she was assumed she was mean and avoided her, giving their attention to Claudia. I love black cats! They're so glossy and beautiful. Tabbies have lovely markings too; give them both a cuddle for me. :-)

How old are they know? Jasmin is three months, so possibly older. I think yours were very young when you gallantly rescued them.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
Kočička is cat? I sometimes call Claudia 'Klavdia Koshka' in Russian. :-)

It's funny how markings can give them expressions. My late Sigi, a tabby, always looked as if she was going "Oooooh!" in surprise.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
She's a lively, funny little girl, which is why it's been so hard getting pictures of her. I think she's adorable, both in looks and personality. She likes being on my lap or even my feet, sometimes puts her head on my hand, and this morning in bad, she lay right across my neck like a fur collar. She's a darling!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
She is all of those! :-)

[identity profile] bramblyhedge.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
Super-duper cute! =^.^= Thanks for sharing Jasmine's progress with us - in my currently catless existence I can live vicariously through you. *lol*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww. I will try to get some more action shots of her. BTW that picture is larger than life. :-)

Awww!! Her little face, it's so sweet!
