Doctor Who purchases

Yesterday I spent one of the gift vouchers I got when I left my last job on two Doctor Who DVDs: The Time Warrior and Timelash {bwahahaha!) Look, I couldn't resist seeing young Paul Darrow hamming it up.

I also bought wool for the Doctor Who scarf knit-along on who_knits which I joines, though it's (almost) the wrong time of year for scarves. I am on my third colour.



In other news, we collect our new kitten tomorrow, so I suspect I'll only be knitting if she's asleep. However there could well be kitten + knitting picspam.

At the rate that I knit, any scarf I started now might be ready for next winter. Although I would have wanted it today!

Knittening picspam! I vaguely recall that kittens sleep a lot at first, so maybe you'll get some time to your scarf. Or maybe she's past that stage :)

They do sleep a lot; they play hard! I will have to see. They a;; have their own personalities. Claudia bit everything soft in sight and dragged clothes around the house, but Tessa was more interested in rewiring the TV and VCR.

Kittens seems to be catching at the moment. Miss-next has Maxwell, Ven has Tavi, Tall-bint intends to get one soon and you're getting your chocolate Burmese (Jasmine ?).
Skiffle gets on OK with Diesel, but I think that introducing a third cat would be asking too much of her.

Yes, Jasmin (sic; we went for the variant spelling). I hope she gets on with both of them as up till now Vic's been rather left out, and Claudia really misses Tessa.

I have found that most cats go for things that move and have developed a method of being able to knit without too much problem.
Use circular needles, so there are no ends waving around. Keep the yarn close to your body, tucked down beside you in your chair with only a short piece out at any one time.
Do not try to knit when they want to sit on you.
It works with adult cats but kittens...I haven't tried yet. They are a law unto themselves and too much of a distraction to even want to knit when they are around. %) I'm looking forward to the pic spam.
Your Dr. Who scarf has got me thinking of knitting one again I've got the pattern saved and will get the wool when I have finished my shawl of many colours in which I am using up three lots of yarn that won't make anything else because there is too little for a jumper/cardigan and too much for a scarf(charity shop buys.)I must get a knitting icon.

I found with knitting and cats that by putting the yarn in a bag close to me with the yarn feeding out of it and mostly hidden there was less of them grabbing the ball of yarn and running off with it. :^)

Yep that works too, the trick is keep the ball hidden how ever you do it.

I can knit with Claudia on my lap, and Tessa was fine too, but when they were young, a yellow knitting needle was a favourite toy.

Which pattern do you have? There are four basic patterns (seasons 13 and 14 are 12 minus some damaged sections, and 18 is quite different) so you might want to choose which one you like best. I chose 14 for being the shortest. Have a look here (http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com/). :-) You can knit along with crycraven and me!

The pattern I've got is the original BBC Enterprises knitting pattern for the Dr. Who scarf. I printed it off the net decades ago but have never got round to knitting it. I'm using it at the moment for my shawl of many colours(only 3 actually)to give it a random stripe , I probably won't get round to the scarf until spring but in a way I am knitting along it's just a shawl for a lady time lord.

I will, it was only going to be 2 colours and when I was searching for the black I found 2 more balls of the random wool I knitted Beth's socks with so it is a coat of many colours.

This is exactly the right time to start knitting a scarf, then there's no pressure to get on with it because the weather's getting colder and you need it.

Except that we're supposed to finish this year, and anyway I have loads of scarves including a wonderful one with thin stripes. They are essential winter accessories for me. :-)

Oh man, Timelash. My condolences. It's one of those that isn't even so-bad-it's-good, it's just bad. And that was after B7, so he isn't young in it any more... it's Silurians in which he's young and pretty and where the story is actually good.

And kitten picspam sounds good:D.

We got her yesterday. She was rather shy at first, but she's been eating well and started to play today--and purr when cuddled. :-) She's still nervous though, and has crapped on the floor twice, even though she had litter nearby. Any tips about this problem? I have a bag of the untreated sawdust she's used to at Patsy's, and will gradually mix in a commercial litter (but haven't yet), so she should recognise it. :-P

And man, her farts and poos could kill at ten paces.

Is she using the litter tray at all? There might be something about the location she doesn't like. Or it might just be that she's young and needs to learn to go in it *every* time.

Hmm. I have one upstairs and one down, but she did encounter the upstairs one first and maybe thinks it's the definitive one. I've put her in the tray after a meal. but she just jumps out. [shrug] I do remember Claudia using my indoor plants for a while, so I suppose it takes time.
