Kitten (and cat) picspam

The breeder I bought Claudia from has become a friend over the years through regular cards and letters (I send her photos of Claudia with news about her) so we decided to get our next kitten from her too, seeing The Lonely Miaow doesn't yet have any. (The next one's from them though, I hope not as urgently). We went down yesterday to see Patsy and her lovely cats, even though we already knew we were getting the only chocolate girl. She has Burmese and Bengals, plus a couple of dogs, and a parrot she told us had died the day before at 30. :-P

We're getting a chocolate because the seal and blue are too much like Claudia and Tessa and will remind us too much of them. She will be called Jasmin as that's the only name in a long list I made that Greg liked. To see what she'll look like as an adult, see Patsy's Burmese page. And we get her in about three weeks!

And because I failed to get decent photos of her magnificent Bengals, here's her Bengal page showing their gorgeous coats.

Picspam follows.

The photo Patsy sent me of our future kitten (on the left, I think) with her brother.

Burmese litter including Jasmin and her brother (at left and second from right). Once they're 6-8 weeks they move out of Patsy's house into the huge heated kitten rooms where there's lots of room to play, fresh air, sunshine, and grass. I took photos through the netting.

Patsy shows us Jasmin and her brother. Yes, the netting got in the way. But look, their eyes are already turning golden! Their fur will get darker as they grow up, eventually turning a warm cafe-au-lait with chocolate points.

Patsy with a Bengal kitten. Altogether now: awwwwww!

There were about ten adult cats roaming around in the house, all wanting to be friendly and noticed. They were just lovely! This one's a blue, like Claudia.

This seal one's so like Tessa (minus her pointed ear tufts), you can see why it would be hard to have another one.

A cute little Bengal teenager who wouldn't stay still. He had the most amazing blue-green opal eyes, which I gather is quite rare.

A very young litter in the house which I snapped though the window as we were leaving. Five baby Tessas - or possibly six!

Awwwwwwww! Kitties! I want to cuddle them. :)

I did too, though I couldn't hold Jasmin because it was raining so hard, but I touched her soft head through the netting. I played with the older ones in the house though. :-)

Aww, kittens! Those Bengals are amazing, I've never seen them before.

[looks them up]

"The Bengal was developed in the States by crossing the forest dwelling Asian Leopard cats, (Felis Bengalensis) to domestic cats resulting in a medium to large breed that resembles in miniature the mesmerising, exotic looks, and attraction of the wild's big cats."

There were so cute and friendly--the guy with opal eyes leaped up on furniture to get closer to us (like our cats do). Apparently they really feel the heat though and don't like being picked up or sitting on laps.

Little darlings! And yes, it is obvious why that Tessa - like can“t go with you. This Bengal one is gorgeous! But all are beautiful, they are CATS!
So have a lot of JOY with your cats!

{melting into puddle of cuted goo here}

awww.....

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly: cats are beautiful anyway. The two tabbies I had as my first cats were just gorgeous with their tigery markings.

I know! I've love to have more than one kitten. But I can't.

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Your new kitty is lovely - I only wonder you didn't come away committed to her brother as well!

(memo: must, absolutely must, make cat icon...)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
We were a bit tempted, but two kittens would probably just associate with each other and ignore poor Claudia. And besides, two are probably four times the chaos (and admittedly fun).

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Not if they both wanted a mother-figure, but that would depend on whether Claudia wanted kittens. We had an old darling who adopted every kitten that came into the house, but they're not all maternally minded!

It's very difficult to know what will happen. As a two-year-old, Claudia adored Tessa, who was younger, but she's older now. If it doesn't work out with either Claudia or Vic (though Burmese are usually very companionable) then we'll get another kitten, but from the local charity.

I want them all! Jasmin is lovely. When do you get her?

The Bengal with the amazing blue-green eyes was beautiful.

They're all beautiful! I'm so happy you'll have a new little one soon.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
What can you say but 'awwwww...' :)

It would probably be sad having a cat that looked just like Tessa. :(

got a mop and bucket? because I am a puddle of 'ahhhhh' on the floor!

Aww, they're all so adorable :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
Aren't they lovely? I wanted to take a lot more than one home.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
That's why I'm going for a colour that's different from her and Claudia. :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
In about three weeks! She needs one more shot, plus they have to be 12 weeks old before they leave.

The Bengal boy will stay with Patsy as he has a kidney condition, but he was absolutely beautiful and so friendly and lively.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm looking forward to getting her!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
They are! I wish I could have more than one.

[identity profile] pet-lunatic.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, they're gorgeous!!

[identity profile] jecono.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaawww! Kittens are just way too adorable to go unnoticed!

Oh, she's lovely! As are the others, especially that Bengal! She already looks much bigger than I expected when she's being held up to the fence. I wonder how big she'll be when she arrives?
