Tiger cubs and happy Vila

These two things are unconnected, but I bet tiger cubs would make Vila happy.

Remember the tiger cubs I drew from a newspaper photo last month for naarmamo? There's a photo of them in this week's City Scene. Their eyes are still really blue, and they have pink little mouths; so cute. Here's a good photo of their mother Molek. I see her eyes are still quite a cool bluish green.


They have names now. The male cub on the left is named Jalur ("stripes" in Malay), the other male in the middle is Berani ("spirited" or "brave"), and the female on the right is Cinta ("love in Indonesian). They'll be on public display in the next few weeks. I want to see them! And I still haven't had my longed-for cheetah encounter there either.

And here's a photo someone got signed by Michael Keating for me at Aftermath. [bounce] The actual one will be sent later. I'm delighted with it because it's the first one I'll have where Vila is happy. Smiling photos of him are so rare; poor Vila. Tarrant and Dayna look happy too.

Cool! Which ones did you get? I'd love to see them. I have five now, including a Michael Keating (not Vila) raising his glass to me at another con and smiling. The four Vilas are either serious or downright sad (which makes sense seeing three of the are S4 ones). I like the serious one in his Terminal outfit the best.

It's one of Avon, Jenna and Vila, I think from Spacefall. She totally took a picture of it for me, but like the scatterbrain I am, I didn't save it. I'll scan it when she mails it. :) It looks like it's from "Spacefall" though.

It's actually doubly special, because Darrow actually picked it up and squinted at it through his big old man glasses, and determined that Vila was asking Avon why Jenna was smiling like that, all before he signed it. (I think he was as shocked to see a picture of Jenna smiling as I was.)

I don't know why I thought it was from Spacefall then. Even when I was typing it (... twice) I was thinking, "When were the three of them ever together in Spacefall?" Ahahahha.

I love the one of terminal!Vila all grinny. God I'm really looking forward to you having proper scans of all of them too. So much hotness. I really like the one in S4 with Tarrant, Vila and Avon. I have a bunch of shots from that shoot but not that one I don't think.

Terminal Vila is like the one I have, but smiling! I should scan mine (it's in a frame, so not that quick to do). It's serious but a gorgeous one of him.

That really is a nice pic of Vila. I wonder, is this a behind-the-scenes photograph? They all seems to be too relaxed to be working....
The cubs are so cute! I hope the eyes never change, but I guess there aren't many tigers about with blue eyes.....

White tigers (really an albino strain) have pale blue eyes all their lives.

Much thicker! It feels like wool on a lamb, and the stripes have a different texture; you can feel them.

I was amazed that their eyes are still so blue! I googled some images and found eye colours from grey to green to gold. Ah! Here's a good one of their mother Molek (http://www.aucklandzoo.co.nz/images/B%20Sumatran%20tiger%20ZD003610_P.jpg). I see her eyes are quite a cool bluish green.

Dayna looks lovely there, and that's one of her better outfits too; very flattering.

Awww! I thought they looked interested and playful! I imagine someone dangled a toy to make them all get together in shot like that and look up. I'm not sure how old they are now, but they were six weeks old in the pic I drew from, so they must have been really tiny.

They were on the news last might! It was their first day in public, and they were so cute and playful, climbing all over their mother. They're 14 weeks old now, but they were quite big; bigger than the ones I played with. :-D
