Day 17 - S is for Spaceship

Today's entry for the [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo National Art Making Month challenge is another page from the children's science fiction ABC book.

S is for Spaceship

#19 in a series I may never complete.

My NaArMaMo 2008 Gallery is here.

Wheeeee! That's delightful. I do hope you finish this series. ;)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'll have to see if I can think up good subjects--and how to draw them--for each letter.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
They're great! Maybe after Naarmamo is over you could put up a post with the letters you haven't done, asking for suggestions?

I hope you do complete the series. In fact this could be a career move! It's brilliant.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. I'd have to draw another alien as he's copyright. :-) But I've been considering doing something like this; not that I could live from it.

What a cute and perfect little rocket ship. I love thses.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I imagine it's a bit Jules Verne (or Wallace and Grommit) inside with overstuffed furniture and comforting wallpaper.

8-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I have yet to figure out how to draw things like quantum physics and time travel (without using a TARDIS). Next up though is a steampunk raygun.
kerravonsen: Susan aiming bow and arrows: "Sharp Mind" (sharp-mind)

Ah, good point, I didn't think of that!

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I do hope you finish this.
It would be even more fun if it was published too. A very different ABC.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll have to see if anyone would accept it.

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
M is for Moon.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, I have that one, and R for Raygun, and plan to do both. I have suggestions for all letters but I'm not sure about drawing some of them--like quantum physics!

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
This is awesome! I want it on my wall, now. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! You could probably blow it up a little and print it out. :-D

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you complete it, they are great :0)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :-D I might do it gradually.

[identity profile] daiseechain.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Another lovely, clear piece. I can definitely see a market for this entire sf alphabet.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, really? I'll have to check overseas (and have no idea how to). Publishing here wouldn't be worth it.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that is adorable...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
:-D Thank you!

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, I really do like them too, especially the way you've done the stars. Is that a brush or did you cross them all yourself?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a GIMP brush--I use a mix of GIMP and PSE2 as they have different features. I know that stars wouldn't look like that in space, but they look nicer than dots. :-P

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, but I like them. It adds to the cute cartoony feel. XD

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
There's an e-mail on the way with publishers names. You're right unless you take off like the Harry Potter books did there is no way you'll earn a living from Picture books but it will be a nice bit of pin money if you can get these published.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
Got it, thanks! :-)

*giggles*

I would absolutely love to see a fnished book all in this style... A is for Alien, B is for Biodome, C is for Cyborg....

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
D is for Domed City! Yeah, I should give it a go.
