August really is a crap month. Claudia isn't eating much, and it's not due to Tessa being gone. She has a sore tooth or an abscess (I've seen the signs before: opening her mouth, rubbing her paws repeatedly over her face) so she has to go to the vet tomorrow. Oy. Now Claudia's had kidney disease and been on a special diet for over a year, and is quite slender and frail--in fact it was Claudia I'd steeled myself to lose first--and of course she'll need an operation. [panics]

And yeah, on top of all this, the theatre sports evening is tomorrow as well and I can't get out of it. I also have to bring some of the supper, which will be damn well bought from the local baker.

You don't have to reply to this, really.

And I will get round to answering all your kind and moving comments about Tessa when I can handle it.

August sucks here too. Its cold and damp and my joints are playing up and I have cystitis on top of that.

Sorry to hear about Tessa, its not fun to lose a pet and to lose one after that long time is worse. I would send Horatio Hamster over there to give you a hug if I was nearer.

And you wouldn't be allowed to! Apparently there are no hamsters here; I think they're forbidden. People have guinea pigs though.

I learnt the ban thing about hamsters only a couple of days ago - something about them interfering with little rodent marsupials. I would never want that to happen.

I can sympathize with you worrying about the anesthetic, I've got three elderly cats and whenever they need something done that requires it, I spend the entire time biting my nails (also with the younger ones, but it's safer for them). I hope your vet does a thorough blood test beforehand, it'll minimize the risk. But even a tiny risk seems like way too much when it's your little friend who's having to take it. I hope that everything will go perfectly and I'll be thinking about the both of you.

And don't worry about replying if it's too difficult. Believe me, I very much understand how that feels.

*hugs* If it wasn't for naarmamo I'd just erase August from the calendar.

My Tara has bad teeth, but I'm scared spitless to take her to the vet because of her age, so I've just been feeding her more soft food and watching for signs that she's really having problems.

Oh, poor kitties and poor you. Cats... They enhance our lives in so many ways, but they can make us frantic with worry and strain our finances, too, and they always do seem to have the worst timing. :( Good wishes to Claudia. And, you know, you're actually kind of lucky she lets you know when a tooth is bothering her. Happiness didn't, and I felt so guilty for not noticing it until I took her in to have her teeth cleaned.

Anyway, *hugs*. (Look, I even have a new "hugs" icon, courtesy of sallymn!) And as others have said, don't feel like you need to reply to this, or to previous comments. I know it can just add to your stress when you have to try to figure out what to say to dozens of well-meaning well-wishers.
