Day 8 - Avon and Vila

Today's entry for the naarmamo National Art Making Month challenge is for vandonovan who wanted Vila and Avon together. It was lucky I did this early this morning or it might not have been finished. It's based on a scene from Volcano but with the arm cast removed and a drink of red wine added.

My skills at clothing folds suck. Van, if you don't like this one, just wait a few days for when I do the sequel to Space Vila. :-)

Ah, this is based on one of my favourite scenes of Avon and Vila together. The interaction you've created is lovely. Good to see Avon's loosening up and having a glass of good red.

I mucked about so much with Vila's shirt. It had too many folds for me (see icon in comment above). But it was the best I could do.

Really? I guess this proves the old adage that artists are their own worst critics. My first thought on seeing the picture was that I loved Vila's shirt.

*grin* I think Avon's looking a little bit drunk, and Vila's amused to see that he can't quite hold his liquor.

Because his glass is tilted? That's because I was too lazy to change his hand because I hate drawing hands. Or does he look glazed?

It's his expression *and* the hand tilt-- also the way his shirt makes him look as if he's kinda slumped. He looks cute snockered.

A lot of fanfic have him unable to cope with alcohol. I think it's part of the allergy thing. Me, I think he has a stock of very good brandy and wine in his cabin.

I think it's just that some people enjoy the idea of him getting drunk as yet another way to torment him and make him vulnerable.

Awwww, I love it so! :D:D And Avon's already pissed and he's barely had a sip, hahahahaha. Or maybe it's just staring at Vila that's making him unable to see straight. >_> This is marvelous. Now, for the pull-to-open part. :D

So it's his glazed eyes! Ha, that was unintentional--I was just making him look less depressed than he is in the cap--but I couldn't be bothered moving his hand (I'm not good at hands, so best to leave well alone) so I put the glass in it on a slant.
