Eh. It was with an agency for contracting work, but I'm not that fussed. Their major client is hard to get to and has no parking, and I wouldn't earn enough to make the huge hassles worthwhile. I'm depressed at how unemployable I seem to be.
Oh, *that* sort of interview. They make me feel inadequate, as do the sessions with the government-sponsored agency I had to sign up with when I went on unemployment benefits :-( I'm sorry and I wish it had've been for something better, which would have made you feel better too.
I just looked up your equivalent to Centrelink, and while it does appear that you could apply, it also looks like they'd make Greg jump through hoops as well for the pittance you'd get. You may be better off out of their hands for a little while longer :-(
It's silly - we have skills, and it wouldn't take long to learn what an employer most needs, even without specific experience in a particular role. So why are you and me suffering from mismatches in their expectations?
Because NZers (and probably Australians too) expect people to have qualifications and experience in the narrow range of what they're looking for. Intelligence and adaptability are nver a requirement. I've heard it's different elsewhere.
Ask, I know we are in different countries but here if you have worked for X number of years and paid full National Insurance and tax during that time your marital status doesn't come it to it. Give it a try, they can only say no, then you can sue them blind for discrimination against you because you are married.%)
And you are not rubbish my girl, it's the idiots at the employment agency that are. You are intelligent, friendly and good at your job what ever it might be. With that list of qualifications a publishing company would grab you with screams of joy. Are there any Publishers in your area and have you tried sending your CV to them?

I feel like rubbish. I have lots of skills like writing, editing, proofreading, art, graphics etc, but no one wants those.

There's not much here and in this country you need qualifications and experience, not talent.
