Picspam of cats and mall art

We braved the weather to go to Sylvia Park to have lunch at the Casablanca Moroccan restaurant (yum!) and to see Prince Caspian. It's really strange weather today: cold, wet, blustery, and sunny, all mixed up. It was miserable when we left home but bright and sunny when we got there, and it has just hailed. I have a fan heater on in here as well as the heatpump in the TV room; it's 6C out there. :-P

I shall put my comments about the film in a separate post because of spoilers, and devote this one to picspam.

First of all, two cats in boxes. Greg's hard drive failed while he was away so he got a new one delivered. Claudia and Vic were more interested in the box it came in.

Claudia was in and out of it all that evening.

So of course Vic had to have a go too.

And at Sylvia Park mall, I finally got round to taking pictures of the wall climbers and also Boba Fett de Milo.

A Lego Boba Fett de Milo. Someone took his arm!. :-(

poor Fett!! But the cats in boxes ahahahaha. I love it so. :D

I didn't realise what similar poses they had. Different evenings too.

It's strange. I mean, showing someone a Lego arm and claiming it was Boba's seems a little desperate. Maybe someone just knocked it off when they were going into the shop.

Cute cats in a box! I didn't realize Vic is a Chinese flower cat--my first baby, Emily, was a smaller version of Vic.

A Chinese flower cat? We always call him a tuxedo cat. :-) There are two other B&W cats who visit, and we wonder if they're related.

If he's mostly white and has a solid black tail, he's a Chinese flower cat. If he's mostly black with white markings, he's a tuxedo cat. There are pictures of the flower cats in ancient Chinese drawings and silk.

Ah. That's interesting. I'd say he's about 50-50 though. Here's a drawing of him from above. Also, his tail is mostly black but with little bits of white near the end, as if he brushed it across wet paint.

Claudia and Vic! So cute! Why do so many cats love sitting in boxes, I wonder?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know, but Claudia went straight to it. Maybe it's some sort of safety thing? Not that a little box like that offers much cosy security.

Yay for cats in boxes ! I'm inclined to think that boxes have some as-yet unidentified-by-science magnetic field that attracts cats, instead of iron.

Boba Fett de Milo is more interesting than a standard Boba, I think. I'd guess that whoever took the arm broke it down to its compoment bricks and gave a child a VERY large bucket of lego as a gift. Not a lot of variety, but a heck of a lot of bricks.

And me sitting on the couch in front of the TV. I don't even get time to realise I haven't opened the DVD cabinet door so the remote will work before--whump--at least one cat is on me.

Or else someone accidentally knocked it and the shop people have no time or skill to fix it.

KITTIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 The thing with having to get into boxes and bags (for no logical reason) is so adorable. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
They love being in stuff.

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
My cats love boxes too! Long after they have got scruffy and need throwing out...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Claudia helps the scruffiness along by chewing the hell out of them too.

Such an adorable otter!

Box kitties! So cute. :D

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I had to get pics! :-)

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
oh no, who would take a arm?

Cats in boxes are fab :0)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe someone knocked it off in an accident. Or it was a hoodie; there seemed to be a few around kicking at signs and things.

I once saw a guy carrying a calm cat in an open box onto the Waiheke ferry; they were both obviously used to it.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
They do like boxes... ours were just the same :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
If you make anything into a tunnel, they'll go into it too.

[identity profile] kalinda001.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Kitties in boxes! They're so cute.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Even though the box was too small for them to lie down in, they were still repeatedly attracted.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That box only just fits!
Ours love boxes, even ones way too small for them, they have try to climb into.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
They couldn't lie down. I once saw Claudia curl up in and completely fill a terracotta pot, but we laughed and she was too offended to get in again.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You have got such beautiful cats!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
And so is your Tygr with hs lovely markings!

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Mńau, mňau!

[identity profile] glitterboy1.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they do it deliberately, knowing that we'll find it so cute? "Listen, she's going 'awwww'. That means she's happy, you know."
