Personality test

From [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile, a Myers-Briggs test under another name which makes me... yes, the Analytical Thinker AKA INTP. What a surprise.

I object to its assumption that all humans are male, and also to the inclusion of astrology in the list of interests (which is fairly accurate apart from that and a few others like meditation and politics). After all they say I'm logical and sceptical. Perhaps they meant astronomy?

LOL...you just beat me posting this. Seems I'm an INTP as well. No surprise there considering our choice of game to play on Facebook.

hmm they may have meant astronomy. That would make more sense in this context.

Yeah, it really doesn't make sense otherwise, does it?

Like with astrology, I have huge issues with systems there are only a few types of people out there. Brr. The Myers-Briggs thing isn't much better than astrology, if it divides people into... what, four to sixteen types? I shudder at the thought of such reductionism:(.

I think of it as preferences for the four things it measures. After all, Greg and I are come out as INTP yet he never reads fiction and I can't live without it, he loves the news and I avoid it, he likes noise in the background and I hate it etc etc. But we're both introverts and all that.

We had a student who took an astronomy module because she didn't know the difference and thought doing horoscopes would go nicely with learning journalism....

LOL! Such stupidity is its own reward.

I suppose it's too much to hope that getting some accidental reality-based education did her any good? :)

I tried that one: I came out as a 'groundbreaking thinker' (ENTP). [livejournal.com profile] tarlanx read the description and said I sounded like Ford Prefect.

I have an idea you've been the ENTP 'inventor' before. :-)
