Blake's 7 in The Simpsons!

We were watching a Simpson's episode tonight, the one in which Skinner doesn't marry Krabappel, and she almost marries Comic Book Guy on the rebound in a Klingon ceremony at an SF convention.

And guess what! Matt Groening is signing autographs (in his capacity as creator of Futurama) in front of ... a Blake's 7 banner!

I've done two screencaps. This one shows the first part of the banner and various fans at the con.

sf con 1

This one has the banner, mostly obscured but you can see a few quarry planets&trade, and a guy in black leather including gauntlets. He's standing by an Area 51 sign, but is he a B7 fan dressed as Avon?

sf con 2

Hee!

[Edit] I just looked it up here. It's called 'My Big Fat Geek Wedding', is ep number 330, and is the 17th ep in season 15, code FABF12.

Impressed!

Are you sure its not Paul Darrow?

BTW, talking of conventions, can I possibly use a pic of Gemma's (of you interviewing the trousers) on my website?

Am thinking of doing a blooper reel equivalent - sort of "A funny thing happened on the way to the location" and I thought interviewing trousers might go nicely with getting lost on Terminal, being crowded by sheep, wearing odd headgear etc.

Of course you can use the pic of me and the trousers! Do you have a larger one? The one Gemma put on her LJ was very small. I'd like to have it on my con report page too.

Do you want the links to Tarrant trouser interview? It's on the Three Good Reasons (http://www.wibble22.fsnet.co.uk/) Tarrant site and is here (http://www.wibble22.fsnet.co.uk/archive/interview.html).

BTW where are the Star One pics you mention on Gemma's site?

I don't think I've seen that one. Every now and again one pops up I've missed. I'll look forward to that!

It was very funny. Homer does a Cyrano de Bergerac, Comic-Book Guy has a Superman tat on his bum, and the Klingon almost-wedding is very authentic; it must be based on that of Dax and Worf. :-D

Hee, it has a Tardis too!:D I love the little details in Simpsons, you have to watch each ep at least twice to get all the stuff in the background:). I don't think I've seen this one, must keep my eyes peeled!:D

We often go back and freeze-frame stuff; they hide a lot of in-jokes in there. We once saw a Spock and a Vader in an queue the 'camera' pans over as the Simpsons' car drives past.

Awesome. Thanks for posting!

It's nice to know people still remember it over there, even if TV usually derides people at SF cons as losers.

Oh, that's great! I haven't watched a new episode of The Simpsons in ages, so I missed that one. But it's great to know somebody in America still remembers the show!

I love the people who make The Simpsons. They're all such incredible geeks. I've been listening to them on the DVD commetary tracks, and you can hear them talking about being Star Trek fans and playing Dungeons & Dragons and all kinds of things. :)

There are too many eps for me to buy. :-(

Some of the last few have been a bit disappointing but this one was a very good one.

I forgot to say: you can just see in the first pic that Milhouse has a Bender doll; he gives it to Groening to sign. :-)

That's great. I think B7 continues to eb the choice of SF connoisseurs.

But of course! Look at the quality of the fans.
