Merry yesterday!

It's the 26th here, but I hope all of you still in the 25th who celebrate it have a great day.

I have a hammock (and two weeks off to use it). :-) No dome-home to put it in, [livejournal.com profile] redstarrobot, but here's a pic of one from the manufacturer's site. Ours is on a stand which can be used anywhere; picspam tomorrow including Claudia in it.

That's a lovely looking hammock, I never learned the knack of getting in to one but they look so comfortable. Happy New year.

You roll up the front third, sit in the hammock, then hook your feet in and stretch your legs out. It supports you with the same pressure all over your body so it's very comfortable. I had a nap in it yesterday but the wind got too cold and drove me in.

Great hammock there. Happy day!

And I hope you've had one!

Thank you! There's still plenty of the 25th left, here!

That's a good hammock - and I do like the idea of it having a stand: that makes the whole idea so much more feasible!

The stand (marine steel to handle our harsh marine environment) was the expensive part! We can easily break it down and take it on holiday though, plus we have a spreader in case we find somewhere solid to hang it from. :-)

I get sea sick with that type of suspension, this (http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/garden-furniture/unbranded-free-standing-hammock.asp) looks more like mine.

Hope you have had a good weekend. I'm digesting turkey and all the trimmings.

My sister has one like that. I like the movement of mine; I can set up a very gentle rock, like a rocking chair, that goes on for ages.

We had a fairly light meal: chicken and veges with a nice merlot followed by fresh fruit in brandy baskets with crème anglaise. :-D

Oooooooooh! Very nice hammock, and hope you had a lovely Christmas - I'm planning on having a lovely one.

I hope you do! I'd wish you a Stark one but that sounds wrong. ;-)

Shame about the dome, but hammocks are great on their own. :)

No dome, but at least we don't have any flat ceilings. In fact we have some solid beams we could suspend a guest hammock from should you ever come to stay. ;-)

I find that style of hammock impossible to get into -- or get out of once I'm in it. Probably something to do with how high it is off the ground.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
There's a knack to it: sit in 2/3 of it, then hook your feet in the edge and push your legs out to extend the other third. Getting out is dead easy; put your legs over the edge and stand up. :-)

My problem with [livejournal.com profile] watervole's hammock was that once I was in it, I was trapped, because my legs were too short to reach the floor in order to stand up... Or maybe it was also compounded by trying to use a sleepingbag which made it impossible for me to get out.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you slept in it? I've only ever napped in one.

And for some reason, I always thought you were tall. :-)

The plan was to sleep in it, because that particular visit, [livejournal.com profile] grumpoldusenaut was also visiting, so one of us had to sleep in the hammock while the other one got the guest futon.

And for some reason, I always thought you were tall.

No, me short. 157cm. About 5'2".
