Top TV shows meme

The Empire Top TV shows meme from [livejournal.com profile] communicator, apparently voted for by readers of Empire, whatever that is. which might explain the rather odd selection. I've bolded the ones I've seen all of and italicised the ones I've seen some of, and struck out those I sampled and didn't like.

47. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
46. Sex & The City
45. Farscape

39. Monty Python's Flying Circus

38. Curb Your Enthusiasm

I detect a definite comedy bias

Let's see, of the ones I've bolded: 11 comedies, 11 SF (two also being comedies) and 3 other/drama. It's fairly even between comedy and SF which sounds about right.

Really? None of The West Wing? Ever? I would have thought that would be a dead cert for your tastes.

I'm not that keen on politics, though I did love 'House of Cards'. I thought, politics, and incomprehensible ones at that, probably laced with infuriating references to the oxymoronic (and possible moronic) leader of the free world: eh. I've since heard that it's intelligent and has interesting characters, but it's too late now.

There's a film magazine in the UK called Empire that;s been around for 20+ years, so I would guess that's the source of the list.

I saw this meme (or a very similar one)done by a young American lj friend a couple of weeks back (though she didn't mention the source of the list) I was interested to see that it specified the new version of Dr Who, rather than the series as its 45+ year whole.

This one doesn't, which is why I only italicised it. I suspect that's a modification.

Wow, this makes me realise what a total TV-philistine I am, because the only shows on this list of which I have seen all the episodes are Life on Mars and Firefly, and they aren't exactly famous for their long-runningness.

I had no idea you'd seen Firefly! I have to say that some of the series I've never heard of, probably because they haven't been shown here.

One can't know executrix and not have watched Firefly! I've even seen Serenity.
