Ladyhawke and the influence of a certain thief
I have just finished watching Ladyhawke. Ah, but Rutger Hauer was a hunk, and hee, Rumpole on the ramparts, as Greg said! I did not however recognise Alfred Molina as Cezar.
entropy_house was right about Mouse being very Vila-like (apart from his constant bargaining with God and inveterate laying--Vila is peculiarly honest that way). His hand gets stood on, he pretends to be several men in the woods, and damn, there was a third thing which escapes me now. [yawns] But hey, it's time for bed and we're going to the Mexican place for a huevos rancheros breakfast tomorrow. :-)
[Edit] I think the third thing was Mouse being called 'little man' several times. As
snowgrouse points out, Kerril calls Vila 'little man throughout City.

Damn, I'd love to watch Ladyhawke again (even if I don't like the music--so dated!) but damn, I must... I just wish I could get my desktop PC here from the 'rents so I could actually watch and cap DVDs again. This lappy is so full of crap I can't even burn stuff to DVDs, let alone watch movies or TV series with them. WAH.
But yeah, have to watch again to see what the Vila-like thing was... I rewatched it last year or something, and went "EE! that is *so* VILA!" and was very bouncy.

I hope you get your PC soon. I only use a laptop when I'm away.

I did wonder about the eclipse that never actually happened and them being the wrong way round in the pit scene: surely she should have been in the pit in 'night' with him in the daylight?

Ladyhawke is one of my favorite movies, from the gorgeous scenery to the story to the acting and music. I love Mouse. Etienne Navarre and Isabeau are the most romantic doomed lovers ever, and John Wood as the Bishop is compelling.
*happy sigh*

Agreed on everything else. :-)

Maybe it got dark after we cut away from the final scene. ;)

The eclipse we see BTW also isn't accurate (the sun would have a bite out of it, but the moon wouldn't be visible) but that's a minor nitpick in a film in which special effects really don't matter. The characters, the scenery, and the music override them. :-) I'm just an inveterate scientific nitpicker. :-P

It is a joyous movie, isn't it ? So much to like about it, from the actors to the scenery and the dialogue. Though when I first saw it, I thought "Ooo, that monk's being played by Number 2."

I'm surprised that Greg, major Prisoner fan that he is, didn't say something about that, but for me, Rumpole of the Bailey is the definitive Leo McKern role. :-)

Hey, you're away! Do you have access up there?
[Edit] Duh; of course you do! Ignore that. Besides, I've seen your post.
