Fannish things near my computer

As started by [livejournal.com profile] executrix and picked up by [livejournal.com profile] shimere277: fannish things near my computer.

On the top shelf of my computer desk:

  • a Corgi Liberator
  • the pipecleaner S1 Liberator crew made by the talented [livejournal.com profile] kalypso_v who are standing in front of Zen
  • a teleport bracelet
  • three Daleks and a Cybermat
  • Rimmer and Lister, Red Dwarf and Starbug
  • assorted Babylon 5 ships
On the next shelf down:
  • Babylon 5 figures: G'Kar, Londo, Vir, Sheridan, and Delenn
  • Picard
  • Buzz Lightyear and a three-eyed green alien
On the bookshelves to my right:
  • five signed photos of Michael Keating--four as Vila, and one as himself raising a glass of wine to me
  • a hand-coloured Bizarro cartoon of the Liberator parked in a funfair car park with the crew standing outside it looking at the laundry caught on a prong
  • Gandalf and the statues of the ancient kings
  • Asterix figures: Asterix, Obelix, Panacea holding Dogmatix, Julius Caesar, a centurion, and a legionary
  • Not fannish as such but geeky: two legionaries and a cow dressed as a gladiator
[Edit] You can see a lot of my things in this post.

Heh. I'd be cheating if I played this, since my computer space/office is full of fannish merchandise for customer orders.

I am in deep envy of your Asterix figures, your pipecleaner Liberator, and your cow gladiator.

All I can say is, "big AWWWW!"

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Heeeee! A fun meme, although I'd be here listing for years. My entire room is a shrine to fannish stuff, hhahahaha.

Are the Red Dwarf bits licensed merchandise or what? Action figures? Statutes? The way you've got it listed sounds like you've got the actors and ships just RIGHT THERE, ahahahaha. (I only ask 'cause I didn't know they came out with figures for it, and think I'd like some if they did!)

I'm glad to know you've got lots of fannish goodies. Makes me feel slightly less . . . obsessive.

You must have a big shelf to accommodate all the DALEKS and spaceships.I wouldn't mind Picard sitting on my shelf either.

As my computer is a laptop the number of fannish things nearby varies.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
The Liberator is a standard Corgi one; it's the crew who are made of pipecleaners, all in proper costumes. Each one's about three times bigger than the Liberator, but cardboard Zen is the right size for them. I have a tiny paper Orac to go with them which I haven't made up yet.

The cow is in this icon. She's the right size for the legionaries too. I found the Asterix figures at a fair I was taking part in. :-) You can see a lot of my things in this post (http://vilakins.livejournal.com/197459.html) :-)

You aren't going to market B7 figures, are you?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
:-D I added a link to a post (http://vilakins.livejournal.com/197459.html) that shows some of them.

[identity profile] toft-froggy.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
The pipecleaner Liberator crew is my favourite. Avon is particularly good, imho.

[identity profile] kerravon.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, those are very cute. Sort of tiny though, for the price. But tempting. Bwahahahaha. Thanks for the links. Damn the dollar to the pound these days. D:

If I hold one arm out, the shelf runs from my shoulder to my hand; not that long. It also has an equipoise lamp and a printer on it.

Picard is in fact sitting with his legs over the edge of the shelf; he has articulated limbs.

Crap, I buggered up the HTLM. Here's the comment again.

I haven't even mentioned all the plushies and shiny satin reptiles! :-D

I have small Rimmer and Lister figures about the length of my thumb and larger Red Dwarf and Starbug, both on stands. I got all of them from Amazon.co.uk. [goes to look] Here you go:
Red Dwarf (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Red-Dwarf-Mothership/dp/B0002X837M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kids&qid=1200704435&sr=1-1)
Rimmer, Lister, and Starbug (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dwarf-Starbug-Lister-Rimmer-figures/dp/B0002T1TQ8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=kids&qid=1200704435&sr=1-3)

I got them a while ago on special. You can also get Starbug by itself.

Silver Alpha Avon was my first acquisition while I was in England. Hee; just noticed I had Vila astride the Lib! ;-)

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I've just suddenly realized that there's surprisingly little specifically fannish stuff on my computer desk, but I suppose the psychic paper and the Blake's 7 mousepad ought to count heavily in that department. Not the mention the printout of a half-written fanfic. (Must finish that this weekend!) :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I did the bookshelves near it as well and I'd include the walls if I had anything on them. Like a Stark picture for example. :-)

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
The Stark picture's on the other side of the room. Well, actually there are sort of two of them, but they're both on different "other side of the room"s. (Yes, cue the "my side, your side" jokes now. :))

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
But then they're both "my side" from Stark's POV!

[identity profile] san-valentine.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
The fannish things near my computer all seem to be Star Wars - most specifically relating to Wedge Antilles.

There's a magnet with a pic of Wedge, and X-wings approaching the first Death Star. That's holding a sheet of Star Wars stamps from America.
There are three different model Wedges: 1 12" articulated figure; 1 10" moulded figure that actually looks rather like Denis Lawson, and 1 4" moulded figure that doesn't look anything like Denis Lawson.
There's also a model kit snowspeeder that I made and painted a good few years ago. It has Wedge's name on the side, where you are supposed to put 'Luke Skywalker'.

I'm consistent :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
:-D And your LJ name isn't even related!

My Vila pictures probably tip the scales here, though if there was B7 merchandise available I'd probably have it. Of course it would probably only relate to Avon and/or Servalan.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
I bow before your fannishness... :-p

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a bit worried about the extent of my sadness. :-P

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, having hobbies is better than having no hobbies at all. :-p

[identity profile] san-valentine.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If there was more B7 merchandize, I'd probably have some of that scattered about. I do have the Liberator-in-a-dome that came with one of the dvd box sets. That's currently lurking in the living room, so maybe I should bring it through here and find a space for it on the desk.
It would feel more at home here.

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
wow, mine is pathetic compared to yours! One B7 Christmas card (2006, wonder who sent that?) a Tardis and a Dalek and 3 Weasley brothers action figures

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you can get a mouse pad and some sort of first cover set, but they only seem to feature Avon and Servalan; the BBC seems to regard her as the star.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't get the 2007 one? Crap. Want me to send it again?

You have Ron and the twins? Cool!

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I got the 2007 one, don't worry, I just like the 2006 one best :0) The 2007 is actually behind it, it is held with a magnetic peg.

Yes, I have Ron and the twins :0)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-19 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good. Though it probably arrived terribly late. :-P

[identity profile] norda.livejournal.com 2008-01-21 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
If I knew a company that was manufacturing them that had US distribution, I might!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-01-21 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It's unlikely there'll ever be any in the UK: they just have a mouse mat with Servalan on it and maybe Avon; can't remember. Going by the BBC webpage for B7, they seem to think she was the star. :-P
