A card from vandonovan and especially for me, with the guys (Jamie, the Second Doctor, Avon, and Vila) in their winter clothes standing in front of our mountains and palm trees--and there's Orac and the TARDIS on the back! And aww, Avon has his arm around Vila, who's complaining that no one listened to him when he said they'd be overdressed for NZ, but does anyone ever listen? Of course not. :-)

And what d'you mean, it doesn't look so good reduced? You're an extremely talented artist and it looks amazing.

I think it differs by culture because some Americans think he's blond which puzzles me. I call that colour light brown. :-)

I've been puzzled by TV series in which people with quite dark hair (to me) are referred to as blond. OTOH I call Meegat and Deva (whom you haven't met yet) fair or blond, but lots of people think they're redheads. Colour perception is a strange thing. :-P

Meegat is blonde but I would say Deva is relatively ginger. (This may be because I've seen David Collings in other roles where he very much is ginger, like Silver in Sapphire and Steel, etc.) But I'm similar to you--I seem to see people in colors other than what other people see. For instance, I got into a similar "arguement" about Trip Tucker (from Star Trek: Enterprise), who I see as light-brown whereas other people apparently think he's blond. I don't get it.

It's just funny, though, 'cause I'd never dream someone would see Vila as blond unless they mentioned it. XD

I've read fics (old ones) in which Vila was blond. So weird. I think I'd actually call Deva 'sandy' but that's probably a British English thing.

Sandy is lighter to me than Deva, but you're right in that it might be a British-English thing. I wouldn't, however, call Tegan from Doctor Who red, and a lot of people do. Which baffles me, hahahah.

Blond Vila just . . . heeeeee. Maybe if he'd been on that paradise beach for a few months. XD

Just to barge in here: I think he's got chestnut brown hair. Not the really deep colour, but it's brown with an element of red in it.
Soolin and Jenna are blonde by a standard British definition - none of the other crew members are.

Agreed on the blond, but Vila's hair varies from reddish to golden brown, depending on lighting and how much sun MK had got, I suspect. :-) So I just say light brown.

It's got far too much warmth to be mousy. I have friends who are mousy and it's a very cool almost greyish brown.

That's only a darkness scale; there's no variation on warmth. I'll stick with light brown.
