Tessa update

I took Tessa back to the animal eye surgeon for her final check-up today and he said she's healed up really well. I was a bit worried about the dark bits on the graft, but apparently the conjunctival matter (the bit of her eye) he used to make it never usually sees the sun--and it has freckles! This, he said, is a good thing as it makes the graft less obvious. I have to say, I hardly notice it now unless she's up close (and she does that: looks soulfully into my eyes from short range).

Not so good is the crash followed by rattling I heard when I was upstairs after I brought her back home. I suspect something's come loose in the current gale, though I couldn't see it in a walk stagger around the house. [rolls eyes] Heh. One of the guys at work stepped outside with his cup of tea to get some fresh air (the painters are in) and the wind blew half the contents out of it. Not, luckily, in his direction. :-P

Yay!

Oh boy.

I am soooo sick of winter.

Me, I am not looking forward to full-on summer; far too hot, dry, drought, and bushfires. (sigh)

According to this, it looks like it will be wet when I arrive.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
It's been wet for weeks except for a day here and there. No wonder we have moss growing on the concrete.

awww...I'm glad she's healed up nicely

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. I wish it hadn't happened in the first place, but we got the best outcome from that injury. :-)

That's wonderful
and she does that: looks soulfully into my eyes from short range
Pipin does that occasionally. If it was a dog doing it would be a challenge to fight and he does stop when I smile at him, half close my eyes, I must try and find out why they do it.

That is Simone gale you've got there, sounds more like a tropical storm than a 'normal' storm. I hope it wasn't any thing expensive that caused the crash at home.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
The other cats don't do it--most do see it as a threat--but Tessa will do it for ages, purring with happiness.

Closing your eyes at them I've heard called a cat-kiss. I think it says "I trust you".

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Spell check does weird things to me when my brain isn't engaged. That should read That's some gale. %D

I thought you were naming it!

I'm so glad to hear Tessa is doing well!

The weather here has been fairly dreadful, too. Equinoctial, I call it, although it's getting a bit past time for that! No blown-away beverages, though.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
[hugs sweet little Tessa] She's warm too and I need the heat.

I am totally fed up with the weather. I am sick of winter clothes and woolly hats and sitting in damp clothes. I swear, if Greg ever sells his company, I'm demanding a move to Australia.

I'm very pleased to hear that Tessa's safely at home.

She's been home since her op, but for a while there her eye was a bit swollen. It looks good now and I'm so glad to hear that it's healed as well as I thought it had.

Hurrah for Tessa!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed! :-D

I'm glad to hear that Tessa's making such a good recovery - you need something to be cheerful about.

Skiffle sometimes climbs up my lap and stares into my face from close range. Usually followed by affectionately wiping her wet nose on my face. Which is made worse by the fact that I've become allergic to her saliva, so when she rubs her nose on me, I go red and itch. Oddly, I'm not allergic to Diesel, which is nice, as she likes to groom my hands sometimes.

It's sunny, and mild here, for mid-October. Diesel went out a little while ago when I went to fetch the post. Must remember to go and let her in again later.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Tessa puts her nose on mine!

I'm sometimes allergic to plants they've been in, but not to them--which is good considering how much I cuddle them. Claudia licks me occasionally but apparently I don't taste as good as Greg whose neck and hair she'll attempt to wash. Claudia's especially is heart-melting head buts.

Glad Tessa is all better.
We should be having gales here but instead it is grey and damp and the air is so still all the autumn leaves just fall straight down.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

I can't remember the last still day. :-P

[identity profile] jhall1.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to hear about Tessa and that your news isn't all bad (having read your last message first).

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's a huge relief about Tessa. :-D

The billing guy said he's sorting it out today. I hope he does. I may still try to find somewhere else before January's payment (if they accept that I made it) runs out in January.

[identity profile] glitterboy1.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh hurrah! I'm glad that she's doing so well.

Have you worked out what the noise was? I hope there's nothing too badly damaged....

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Greg says it's just the lightning rod flailing about and the crash must have been somewhere else close. Everything looks OK. :-P
