Slightly more organised
I am soooo tired--physically. I've been reorganising and cleaning and tidying after Greg finally got rid of some of his hoarded junk: 6 cubic metres of it. I reckon there's another three to go, but at last the piles of DVDs and books are now off the floor and tables and onto the newly-cleared shelves. I haven't sorted them at all; that comes later when I decide how to do it. Then when I can actually find things, I won't buy DVDs and books I already have, like I, Claudius and 1066 And All That. At least I realised in time about the latter and cancelled my order. :-P
Ahhh, everything looks so tidy and uncluttered. The trick is keeping it that way.
I also have a new mobile. My old one's battery died yesterday and that's it apparently: they discontinue the batteries six months after the models, so I had to buy a new one. Nice little revenue spinner, that. Why can't they have standard batteries? Anyway, the new one is very cool, flips open like a tricorder, and is a sort of pale gold ('champagne'). I shall have to read the manual to figure out all the new features and the synchronisation software. Up till now I've lagged behind in phone tech, inheriting Greg's discards.
Right, off to bed coz it's Monday tomorrow. Oh yay. I'll have to get two weeks' work done in one since I've got next week off. And somehow find some time to finish the, well, finishathon story which I still don't have an ending for.

Ooh tech envy. Clam shell phones are all the rage here after being unobtainable for a couple of years, and of course it was during those years that my old phone died. I find that when it comes to tech I still live by my early training which can be summed up in one short sentence
"If it still works you don't buy a new one" So I can't bring myself to replace it.

This one has heaps of features. It has e-mail (which I won't use; too expensive) and a calendar and other things that could be useful. :-P

Someone is making lots of money...

ooooh new phone. One thing I love about being in a place like Taiwan is that you can get the latest in tech stuff long before it reaches N.America shores and it's cheaper here. Is that the same in NZ?

The queen size mattress & box spring will take some horsing out... I sure *HOPE* they don't take that. I know there's an underground factory network that puts new fabric on them and resells them. Very unhealthy, particularly when it comes from a house with cats who didn't like the owner of the bed.

Good luck with getting all your work done this week - you'll deserve your break by the end of it!

It may take a while this way, but if you do this at least once every day, you'll find it won't take you more than a few weeks (a month, tops) to get your entire house reorganised and mostly clutter free (a little clutter is unavoidable, you're still living there, you know).
I try doing this once a year and my rule for throwing things out is: if I haven't so much as touched it for more than a year and it isn't there to look pretty, it goes into the garbage or to a recycling center. This includes technical stuff and clothes and on occasion even books. In all the years I've been doing this, I've found that only twice have I thrown something away that I then later needed. And since those things weren't very expensive, I felt that the lack of clutter totally justified the very minimal expense of buying the stuff again.

Good luck with the finish-a-thon. I finally figured out what I was doing with the rest of mine, and scribbled done some good notes so I wouldn't forget, and then promptly lost all interest in actually writing it out. Must start poking myself about it soon.
