vilakins: Vila in cold-weather clothes looking unhappy (weather)

It were always raining in Auckland town

Oh crap. Now I'm trapped at work because I don't dare go outside in this weather. This week is going to be a good one. I can just tell.

Oh and 100 points for recognising the misquote in the heading.

[Edit] I'm home. I waited till it was just raining instead of bucketing down (we get scary subtropical downpours and flash flooding here) and fled.

Oh no - weather! is becoming a permanent phrase in the MouseHouse. I dont think we have as bad weather as you do, though.

I recognise the quote, but I couldnt remember where from (but Google is my friend, so now I know.) I won't be SpoilerMouse though just in case someone knows who doesn't have to google for it. ;)

You don't have rain as heavy as ours. Visitors from the UK are frightened by our rain. Hell, I'm frightened by it.

Don't say anything yet; someone below guessed it but not the specific one. :-)

So you got Ripping Yarns: "The Testing of Eric Olthwaite"?

I could be wrong, but I saw that quote and instantly thought 'Ripping Yarns'.
Am I right?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! :-D

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you name which one?

[identity profile] the-summoning-d.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn, I can't. But it was the one with Eric Olthwaite; "Bank manager tells of night of boredom!"

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! It's "The Testing of Eric Olthwaite". I often quote the bit about his mum's black puddings that were so black, even the white bits were black.

Yes, I have the books and the DVD. :-P

You poor, soggy thing. I hope you could nice and warm and dry at home.

I wasn't soggy this time, but then I stayed inside for almost an hour waiting for my moment. I had a raincoat, hat, and golf umbrella but last week--armed with the same--I got soaked from the knees down when caught out in hail. It was extremely unpleasant and squelchy driving in wet jeans.
