Day 10 - Jeeves

Today's entry for the [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo National Art Making Month challenge is a black and white cartoon of Jeeves. Why, you ask? Why not? I like Jeeves, and I think he looks better without colour, and I wish I had one to organise my messy life.

And now I'm off to bed. (Yay, weekend!)

Jeeves

My NaArMaMo 2007 Gallery is here.

he's excellent :0)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Oh yes that's Jeeves alright, I want one as well for the same reason.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure he'd subtly cure Greg's severe hoarding habit and get this place back to the aesthetically pleasing tidiness my previous house had in my single days.

Does Jeeves do cleaning? Well, even if he doesn't, he'd organise someone to do my cleaning. He's hired.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
He'd organise a cleaner and cook, though he's a very good cook himself in emergencies, e.g. scrambled eggs at 3am after a party.

[looks at your icon] You're not useless though! You have a lovely house. Who's the useless chap?

Oh, I'm fine with the cooking. When I'm doing it for myself, anyway; I've had a non-vegetarian with an avowed dislike of "foreign food" staying for a week recently - twice, as in two separate weeks - and I got rather desperate trying to come up with enough meals that would suit both of us. Fortunately he likes cauliflower cheese and macaroni cheese, but I'm afraid I ran out of ideas and fell back on prepared dishes from supermarkets eventually. It's been a relief the last few days being able to cook things like wild rice or aubergine curry again!

It's one of Chris Eccleston's roles: Nicky Hutchinson from Our Friends in the North.

Oh that's a marvelous Jeeves.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

I agree with the others - that's an excellent Jeeves.

Though if I were to have a P G Wodehouse butler, I'd rather have Beach, from the Blandings stories. He's a good butler, but altogether more human than Jeeves.

[identity profile] satan-pingu.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, with Beach, you would have a little more control over your own destiny. Having said that Jeeves' conception of destiny might be infused with a little more wisdom than, say, mine; he would, in his valeting duties, certainly disappear some of my socks.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He'd disappear the Dalek ones I gave Greg, and as for mine... bright colours, stripes, spots... I regard socks as a way to cheer me up in winter.

I love the Blandings stories.

I lack a P G Wodehouse collection. I shall have to gradually acquire one.

[identity profile] san-valentine.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got most of the Blandings books, but no Jeeves, though I have read some.

[identity profile] satan-pingu.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Very stylish! He reminds me a little of Douglas Wilmer, who would have made a super Jeeves.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's the chin. :-)

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent Jeeves!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[identity profile] jhall1.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
At the rest of echoing everyone else, that's excellent.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Indubitably Jeeves!

I saw that a while ago! I'd go for it (I mean, Stephen Fry, and those witty and wonderful remarks) but I loathe being called madam. It makes me feel like a large lady Of A Certain Age with a lorgnette. :-(

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it's better than the other kind of madam.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. When people in shops call me that (it seems to be an imported US custom) I want to snap at them, "Don't call me that; I don't run a brothel!" but I doubt they'd understand. Or stop doing it. Grrrr.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that puts me in mind of "Are you being served"

[identity profile] nautile26.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, lovely. Every home should have one. Some calm and efficient.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Unlike my home, yes. He's so needed here.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I just know he has a kitten under that napkin...A black and white one, of course. ;^)

Hmmm... I'm more tired than I thought, am on brain-tilt.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. You could be right. :-)

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
He just has that 'I've got a hidden kitten sort of half-smile'.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-08-11 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
He does!
