Tessa
This month doesn't get any better. I got home today to find Tessa with an eye full of pus, so I had to ring up, get an emergency appointment with the vet, and take her in. The poor little girl was crying which is rare for her; she usually just goes "Mmmm" instead of actually opening her mouth and meowing. She must have been in pain. They've kept her in and will give her painkillers and something to help, then tomorrow morning they'll anaesthetise her and have a proper look at the ulcer. If it's really bad, we might have to take her to the eye specialist who treated her detached retina some years ago; I hope it won't come to that. Whatever, they'll probably so her eye shut which she's had done twice before. :-(
I feel guilty because she didn't get out of her bed this morning and I didn't think to check if she was all right because she loves that bed and it was cold. She was fine yesterday though.
She cried when I left her there. I almost did too.

If Tessa had any problems, it's always been her eyes.
Claudia's wandering around crying now because Tessa's not here. :-(

and {hugs} for you too, I'm sure you need them.

I don't blame you for wanting to cry - I would, too - but remember, she's in the best possible place right now. And please don't feel guilty for not checking her this morning - it sounds like you drew a perfectly natural conclusion from the circumstances. *hugs* again.

I just rang the vet and she's had painkillers and some numbing drops, and has eaten her dinner, so that's encouraging.

Claudia won't leave us alone. She's so missing Tessa.

Whatever you do, don't feel guilty for not checking this morning: there was no way you could have guessed that she wasn't just being lazy - that's what cats do! :-) In any case, there might not have been anything to see at that point, anyway.

Thanks, but I still feel guilty, also for not cuddling her but immediately packing her off to the vet. It was the right thing to do but she didn't want to get off my lap. :-(

Have you got Greg back to help with cuddles yet? The time zones are confusing me.

Those people who insist that cats don't show affection for individuals like dogs do have no idea what they're talking about.Claudia is missing her friend, so she wants comfort from her humans, and Tessa evidently wanted to be with you when she was in distess, rather than with the vet. I bet when she gets back, it won't just be familiar surroundings she's glad of, but familiar people too.

Cats (and other animals) have souls; they love and grieve. Tessa didn't want to get off my lap at home but I had to cage her and take her to the vet. Poor little thing. She'll be very clingy when I get her back.

I pray to Bast, sincerely, that she will get better. May She hold you in her giant Goddess lap, curl around Tessa and you and purr so hard you'll both feel better soon.

Tessa has a very bad lesion across half her cornea; she has to go to the animal ophthalmologist today and be operated on by him. She's been to him before for a detached retina and recovered fully. I'm not sure what is is with Tessa and eyes. :-(

My best wishes for Tessa, Nico. I hope the surgery is successful, and that she's safely and comfortably home within a short time.
*hugs to you and pats for Tessa*
