Peter Tuddenham: logged off

I just heard that Peter Tuddenham died this week on 9 July at 88; see the Horizon site for details. He played the Blake's 7 computers Zen, Orac, and Slave so well, giving them very distinct personalities and, in the case of Zen, a uniquely moving last scene.

That is really really sad.

In my dealings with the crew at conventions Tudders was the nicest of the lot keeping everyone including those who were appearing with him and those who were organising things entertained and the fans in stitches as well.

Lovely man, will be sorely missed.

I remember you talking about him and how lovely he was.

Oh, no, such a lovely bloke! I haven't seen it on any of the lists yet - have you posted?

No; I will do so now.

:-( Lovely man.

So everyone who met him has said.

Oh so terribly sad... but he'll be remembered...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He will be.

That's so sad :( I have posted it in my journal, too, for non b7friday people who may want to know.

I'm sure he's setting up a little corner of heaven with old B7 props and the scenery that Paul Darrow didnt manage to chew, and getting the place ready for when anyone else decides to join him. And of course seeing his late son again.

I loved his work as Zen. Orac was good, but there's only one Zen.

:(

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
He and David Jackson, yes. :-)

When he did Zen's death scene, even the set crew were in tears.

Oh, sad, though he had a long innings. And sadder that he outlived his son, in a way; I think it's one of my greatest fears to outlive either of my kids.

He gave great performances in B7.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a very good innings. Yes, I was sad to see about his son. I'll always remember my great aunt saying when her son was dying that she had always expected him to outlive her because that was meant to be the way of things.

He was excellent. Zen didn't get many lines but he's a loved character because of his interpretation.

*observes a moment of silence*

*uses inappropriately funny Orac icon out of sheer love for Orac and the talent of the man who made him work*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
He made all of them believable characters in their own right.

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
He had a lovely voice in plays on Radio 4, he'll be missed.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I only ever knew him on B7 but that was impressive enough.

[identity profile] matildabj.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no! I'm so glad I met him. He was such a lovely man, he kissed my hand. As you say, did the voices of the computers so brilliantly.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-07-12 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
He did; each one was completely different. Everyone who met him has remarked on what a lovely man he was.

[identity profile] pussintweed.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
:( He was such a wonderful part of the show.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
He was, and will always be.
