Heroes season finale
I've seen two season finales this week, and am still thinking about them. First, Heroes
Wow! That was excellent except for one major point. They didn't kill Sylar. They just left him there without checking? If I'd been there, I'd have blown the bastard's brains out administered a coup de grace.
selenak tells me however he's hugely popular in the fandom, which I totally don't get. I don't care how good-looking he is; the guy is so evil I can hardly bear to watch him. Those who think a psychopath can be redeemed are also fooling themselves. He has no empathy and never will unless he kills someone who has a talent for it. And they have someone worse in store? I an afraid.
Hiro learning to fight from Sulu his father, saving Ando, and ending up in the past was pure win. This also answered my question about whether there was going to me another season, I mean volume. :-) Will Hiro meet Kensei, or is he Kensei, I wonder.
Candice: I like her but I gather many don't. I think her backstory gives her a lot of sympathy. I was expecting her to change into the real Candice when Niki knocked her out and was surprised that she continued to maintain her illusion.
selenak has an excellent explanation for this though at the very beginning of a wonderful Candice-POV story she posted today, which brings me to my rec: Illusions.
I am also intrigued about how Candice maintains her illusions. By altering photons and sound waves, or doing the reverse of mind reading and inserting the perception of images and sound into people's heads which seems a lot easier? Not of course that believable science is exactly a major feature in this show. They don't even inherit power, or Claire would be a flame-thrower or flying fireball.
As an aside, if I had a choice of super powers, I think it would be a toss-up between Claire's (I'd never get ill) and Candice's (I could be lean and lithe and not bother buying new clothes, or when walking around at night, be a huge and tough-looking guy no one would dare tangle with). The rest? Eh. I wouldn't even want Hiro's ability to bend space and time: I'd want to edit my whole life which is generally considered Not A Good Thing.

Candice: I like her but I gather many don't.
I don't, especially. And do we know her backstory? The question is raised that perhaps that's not her original appearance, but I don't think it's ever confirmed. And if it's not her real appearance, I'd think she would most likely revert while unconscious, though I suppose it's possible she's kept that illusion up well enough to literally do it in her sleep. I do remember thinking that it was pretty damned rich for a skinny, pretty, apparently well-off white chick to give lectures on how people discriminate against you based on what you look like and where you come from to the biracial kid with the stripper/criminal parents, and that's rather less obnoxious if you believe she's not what she appears to be, though.
I'll go and read that story, though. I seem to have missed it.
I don't particularly want any super powers, myself, but if offered, I suppose I'd take Claire's. It would be nice never to have to worry about getting hit by a bus. :)
(Damn it! I still do not have a Hiro icon! Oh, well. I'll use Locke, for the other recent finale. He's specialer than all of them, anyway. ;))

Candice is scoffing chips on the couch and Micah says that he had a friend who ate that much and was huge. Candice said, "I am huge," and later when she's the plump motherly black woman at the voting place, says to Micah, "Are you sure this isn't what I really look like?" and laughed. She's very bitter about discrimination on appearance for a good reason, and I think someone with that power would at least improve on themselves unless they looked like, well, most young females on US TV. ;-) So yeah, I think Candice is very large and probably very plain, and extremely angry about being rejected or laughed at because of it. I already noticed she holds Micah's hand but doesn't really do much other touching. OTOH that might be just me reading more into it; she could well be able to give people the correct tactile perceptions too.

Hiro is in a class all by himself. :)

Ah, you're right, I'd forgotten that. And I had considered that the appearance she used in the voting booth -- or something like it -- was what she really looked like, but rejected it mainly because she didn't change when she passed out. Having read the story now, I see that
Still don't like her very much, though. She gives off "snotty bitch" vibes to me, and I find that hard to get past. :)
