Unexpected cat!

I was at work today with the office door open, and suddenly heard a meow at my feet.

This is what I found.

The weird thing at the bottom left is part of my Croc shoe. :-P

So cute and friendly. He followed me around, but I was about to go home, so I told him to come back any day and see me. I hope they don't lock him in by mistake, though he was sitting outside on the steps when I left.

He's the same cat I found sitting serenely and placidly in the car park last week. He wouldn't get out of the way so I had to get out of my car and pick him up. When I'd parked, he was back again, right in the middle, so I picked him up again and took him to a safe place. Maybe he remembered me and came to visit. :-)

Awwww.

The fact that he has a bell and collar does seem to indicate that he has some humans that belong to him; any way of finding out who they are?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
He's extremely tame and well-fed and -cared for (glossy and soft) so he's obviously very loved. There are houses behind the office in a side street and also in the same street, so I suspect he's from one of those.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, we all know that they are the cats who choose their humans. It is definitely THE case - you have been chosen, no matter who the real owners are...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
But I already have three!

Perhaps he wants a daytime friend while his people are at their own work.

BTW I kept meaning to say, do you know there is a Czech Arthur Ransome site (http://www.acces.cz/bidlo/ransome/)?

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa, I am really impressed - I have opened the site immediatelly and yes, I haven´t had an idea until now! Thank you - incidentally I had a call last week from a senior who wanted to know about Ransom´s books in CR. It seems very few people really know about them here - what a pity!
Now I can spread you info, thank you very much!

About cats - oh yes, I have my Tygr in my house and four more at my mother´s-in-law who lives about 20m far away ( hmm, very ofter I think it is TOO close :-)) and she does not like them so we take care of them - there is a tiny mother cat called MRS.Tygrosková - actually she is Tygr´s mum! and we have to addreess her respectfully with plural YOU ( Czech language uses it normally), then little black Micinka, orange tomcat kitten Macík and alpha tomcat Pucík who shows some genes of a Siamese cat with typical fur and blue eyes. I love them all and they love me but they are typical outdoor micecatchers living in a farm. I only visit them daily and feed them properly / or my husband/.

They sound like beautiful cats of great character, especially Mrs Tygrosková whom you have to address formally. :-) I have known a few cats like that. Mine however are on immediate friendly terms with everyone who comes here.

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, he knows you! You have that neon sign invisible to humans, that reads "Sucker for cats".

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
I do, and cats have also marked our house as being a soft touch, like tramps used to in the Depression. To date I've found homes for seven cats, including Vic whom we kept. :-P

This guy obviously has a good home though; he's very well fed and cared for.

Aww, such a sweet face :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
He's a darling and I hope he comes back.

[identity profile] pseudnik.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly some kind of cat courier? He was probably just waiting for a signature.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Here, sign for this delivery of furry cuteness."

Ooooh! So beautiful!!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't he lovely! I hope he comes back often.

I must post some holiday photos including the cat who visited us there.

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, lovely :0)

I met a nice cat on the way home on Friday. He was sitting on top of a van as I walked home and greeted me like an old friend.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
I often make friends with cats when I'm walking, but I always make sure that they don't follow me.

Did you see the palm tree thingy on my Croc? I have four pairs now: ocean blue, purple, those pearl ones (all with inserts), and a pair of black and tan jandals / flips-flops / thongs or whatever you call them. :-)

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
yes, it's great meeting cats when out and about :0)

I did! 4 pairs?! Wow.
I'm thinking about getting another pair, I do like mine a lot, but KTFV isn't keen. They are so comfy, aren't they? I might get the ocean blue ones, that's the colour my mother has, and it's a great colour

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
It's as nice as the purple!

I needed those colours and crocs are much cheaper and a lot easier than finding decent comfortable shows with the arch support I like. My boss thinks they're cool and and said that she's seen a lot of staff at the hospital wearing them because they're so comfy. I did qute a lot of beach walking in them on holiday and even rode a Segway in them! :-D

He's very like Thomas, though perhaps a little shaggier, so give him my love if he comes back!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
I will, and I'm sure he'll be back; I did tell him he was welcome any day. He came into the office briefly a few weeks ago; he obviously lives in one of the houses nearby.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
He obviously decided your hissort of human :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
He must have! He was back today, but the boss won't let me have him in here because she's allergic.

[identity profile] san-valentine.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
He's very nice - what stiking eyes ! I hope he comes back. Cats improve any office.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
He came back this morning but the boss is allergic so I'm not allowed to have a furry friend in here. :-(

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
He's adopted you for company. That intent stare means he 's trying to give you some sort of message.
So long as he's not likeour K'zin. He regularly does a "Lassie" impression to getus to follow him as one of the others has got locked in the kitchen by mistake.
Most commonly the message is "Attention Please!"

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, when our cats do that, we ask them if Timmy's in the well.

The end of his collar's a bit long but when I was about to trim it, a colleague was horrified: "He's not your cat!" I think he was telling me it's a nuisance, so when he came back today, I put him on my lap and tucked it into his bell. I doubt it'll work for long though.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2007-04-17 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Our cats a little too vocal to be "Skippy".

[identity profile] snowgrouse.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
He's gorgeous! Cats can tell a cat lover from miles away:). My Dad always has cats coming up to him and falling in love with him...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I get that when I go for walks. I always stop and talk and pet them if they like that, but I have to make sure they don't follow me.

He was back today, but the boss hates cats because she's allergic, so I might have to be careful about letting him in. :-(
