Doctor Who: Smith and Jones

I'm always late to the party, but I've finally seen it.

And I liked it!

It wasn't on Earth - yay! A hospital on the moon was super-inventive and visually stunning, and I like Martha. Mind you, I liked Rose at first too (esp when she ran joyfully into the TARDIS) before she went clingy and weepy.

This was a fun and fast-paced story which I hope is indicative of what's to come. I did wonder why the building didn't explode, but we got a nice, neat explanation for that. I assume the Jadoons (sp?) provided the power along with a gravity generator, which would make sense because they wouldn't have to deal with people flailing about at one sixth G and probably losing their staff canteen lunches to boot. I liked the Jadoons too; they reminded me of Vogons: ugly and stolidly bureaucratic. I wonder if they write poetry.

I disliked Torchwood so much I stopped watching, but I'm really looking forward to more of this. :-)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. It seems like the reviews in general have been positive, but it's nice to hear a good review from someone whose taste I really trust:)

(If you think you're behind, I still haven't seen the end of S2.)

When you have, you should watch 'Runaway Bride' for someone I'd like to have seen as a companion. :-)

Hey!

I really liked the episode, obviously it's Martha's first episode so they need to take it easy, but now she's there they can do whatever they want so it'll be great!

Can't wait for episode 2 :D

Neither can I! I think they'll make a very good team as long as they don't go emo on me.

Seconded! But I don't trust RTD not to make them go emo. We shall just have to see.

I'm not sure I trust him either. Apparently the confidential said that Martha was in love with Ten, but Ten couldn't forget Rose. [rolls eyes] Give me SF, dammit, not unrequited lurve.

What a fun icon!
Did you base that on a cover from one of those old SF magazines you picked up second-hand a while back?

It's from an old girls' magazine, made by [livejournal.com profile] redscharlach. I linked to some of her icons here (http://vilakins.livejournal.com/264118.html). I liked this one for the SF-ness and the hair being a bit like mine.

This one's from one of those mags though.
