Colours meme

From several people, because I haven’t done a meme for ages and this one looked better than most, and because I can't do the drawing one using this laptop's G-spot thingy which I am not at all practised with.

RED
1. Closest red thing to you? Several apples.
2. Last thing to make you angry? The idiot drivers, usually in 4WDs AKA wanker wagons who don’t give way when they’re meant to.
3. Do you have a temper? Doesn’t everyone?
4. Are you a fan of romance? Nope. I was amused at how many people liked my Mills & Boone parody starring Servalan and Avon.

ORANGE
1. Closest orange thing to you? My underpants. Who would wear orange underwear, I hear you ask? They’re from a $24 pack of 12 pairs of 12 colours working out to $2 each, and some of the comfiest I’ve ever worn (nice high leg line and wide band).
2. Do you like to burn things? It can be scientifically fascinating. :-D
3. Dress up for Halloween? I don’t do Halloween. I’m not American.
4. Are you usually a warm-hearted person? Yes, with a touch of cynicism.
5. Are you usually full of energy? Who, me?

YELLOW
1. Closest yellow thing to you? A cushion on the couch I’m sitting on.
2. The happiest time[s] of your life? Living in Europe - I had no allergies there and lots of fun friends – and now, since I met Greg.
3. Favourite holiday? That’s a hard choice so I’ll pick the 2004 UK one because I met a few of you at Star One and afterwards.
4. Are you a coward? Vila and I have a lot in common, but he’s braver than I would be.
5. Do you burn or tan? Neither. Luckily being pale and interesting isn’t as despised as it was when I was a kid.

GREEN
1. Closest green thing to you? The trees outside.
2. Do you care about the environment? Of course.
3. Are you jealous of anyone right now? People who live in the UK and can go to B7 cons.
4. Are you a lucky person? [Edited because of a response] Apart from having to take several meds every day so my body works properly, yes.
5. Do you always want what you can't have? Depends on what it is I can’t have.
6. Do you like being outdoors? Provided the weather isn’t too weathery, yes.
7. Are you Irish? No.

BLUE
1. Closest blue thing to you? The couch I’m sitting on.
2. Are you good at calming people down? I’m usually the one who has to be calmed down. :-P
3. Do you like the sea? Love it! I’d hate to live too far away from it, or at least a large lake.
4. What was the last thing that made you cry? Can’t remember; probably a film with emotionally manipulative music.
5. Are you a logical thinker? Yes.
6. Can you sleep easily? Provided it’s quiet or I have earplugs in.

PURPLE
1. Closest purple thing to you? Some stripes on my shirt.
2. Like being treated to expensive things? No; I feel guilty.
3. Do you like mysterious things? I love mystery in fiction, but the solution (see B5) often turns out to be banal.
4. Favourite type of chocolate? I can’t choose. It’s all good.
5. Ever met anyone from myspace? Not to my knowledge.
6. Are you creative? Yes; I like to write and draw.

PINK
1. Closest pink thing to you? Pass.
2. Do you like sweet things? Not if they’re too sweet. That’s what’s so nice about chocolate: its touch of bitterness.
3. Like play-fighting? Oh, yes, esp wrestling. :-D
4. Are you sensitive? Too much so.
5. Do you like punk music? No.

WHITE
1. Closest white thing to you? The windowsill.
2. Would you say you're innocent? Not really.
3. Always try to keep the peace? I do my best, but not at any cost. I’ll stick up for my POV or what I consider to be right.
4. How do you imagine your wedding? I don't; I remember it. I wore ivory harem pants and jacket if that’s what you want to know.
5. Do you like to play in the snow? I haven’t been anywhere it snows since I lived in Germany, but hell yes, if I get the chance.
6. Are you afraid of going to the doctor or the dentist? Not afraid, but I dislike it intensely.

BLACK
1. Closest black thing to you? This laptop I’m using (Greg’s).
2. Ever enjoy hurting people? No.
3. Are you sophisticated or silly? Silly.
4. Would you like to go to space? Only if I could travel the galaxy. Earth orbit’s not good enough and the danger outweighs any fun that might be.
5. Do you have a lot of secrets? Some.
6. What is your favourite colour? Turquoise.
7. Does the colour you wear affect your mood? No, I only wear colours I like. The colours of my environment may though; in one job I refused to work by a mustard-coloured wall.

I want a pack of coloured underwear like that now!

This was very interesting, I think I might have to do it myself x

More replies when I have time, but:

my crap genes

Could I make a request that, unless you have a hereditary degenerative disease of the nervous system or something, you refrain from saying this quite so often as you do? :)

I'm going to buy more if they still have them.

You may not. It's my LJ; reader beware. Given that I'm unlikely to live to be old and have to take drugs every day to function like a normal person, I'll say what I bloody well like.

Heh, cool. Think I'll do this one.

Yeah, I thought this one had an interesting structure and wasn't as intrusive as some of them, or too American. :-)

It is indeed your journal; the request was not a complaint about the reading material, but my concern for the emotional state of a friend. It's partly that I feel you speak about it as though it defines your worth as a person - and, man, it makes me feel sick at heart sometimes to see the sorts of harsh things you say about yourself, and today is really one of those days, as you'll see lower down - and partly that a reduced life expectancy and having to take drugs to function daily describes a lot of the human population, like 25%, and partly that you caught me on a day where (to phrase this delicately in a public place) it's weighing on my mind that I know some people being truly ravaged by their genes, slowly, painfully, and fatally, with no hope of a treatment that will help them function anything like normally, which in one case will not be as long as yours has already been. Nico, you are wonderful, you really are a wonderful person. You are smart and beautiful and living a very good and full life, and, man, modern medicine may be the godsend that makes it possible, but your genes also did that. It makes me happy to know you, and I'm so, so glad I can listen to you talk about living such a rich and happy life, and doing such awesome things with it, instead of only being able to share in watching you be consumed by progressive suffering. (*cough* And with a ramble going directions like that, this might actually have been prompted by concern about the emotional state of multiple persons, myself included as one of them...) :)

I agree that I'm lucky that there are drugs that mean I can do stuff like go for long walks (which meant equally long lie-downs when I was a kid but are no problem now) but I've always feared being cut off from them, seeing as they're all made overseas. Yes, I know people much worse off than me, but every time my doctor tells me I got a bad draw, or the dentists says airily that I have problems because of genes, it gets me down.

Look at it the other way though. It was all I could think of to answer that question with. That aside, I'd say I have average luck for this country and spectacular luck taken worldwide, and I probably should have. :-)
