Fat Tuesday
OK, that was quite a good day.
- I went to a pancake feast with some friends from work and ate four of them (pancakes, I mean) with lemon and cinnamon sugar. [hangs head]
- Then I went straight on to my Tai Chi class, and though I didn't think being full of pancakes and coffee was particularly conducive to good form, I was fine. It was too hot so we had the class outside on the grass which was really nice.
- And then I came home to watch us... beat Australia again! [jaw drops] That make three out of three games, and each one ending with a boundary (a four tonight). I am both stunned and delighted.

It does sound like a good day all round - I'm glad you had a good time. I had pancakes on Sunday evening, because there's no way I'll have time tonight. Mmm, they were very nice.
I hope the fan helps keep you cool!

The ones we had were cooked by one of my friends from scratch and very nice too: big thin ones like crepes. :-) Another friend wanted to buy some ready-made ones to take home but the supermarkets were all sold out. Eh, they're not that hard to make. I sometimes do them for breakfast.
The fan should work a lot better than the small one we had in the bedroom. I have a big black retro industrial one aimed at me right now in the lounge: bliss.

I've always felt that, regarding the Shrove Tuesday tradition, this is somewhat missing the point. Which is, to use up the eggs and other rich ingredients that one may not eat during the Lenten fast.
And if one just likes to eat pancakes, as you say, they're not hard to make :)

I used to do Tai Chi and I'd totally forgotten doing it outside on the grass in the summer, thanks for the memory :0)

I'd forgotten it was Shrove Tuesday until I woke up to a pancake recipe on Woman's Hour. I think I'll make mushroom pancakes for dinner. And then, as I happen to have finished a bar of chocolate last night, I'm wondering about giving chocolate up for Lent. To see if I can.

I'm having elote tonight - Mexican corn on the cob with cheese and chilli, an experiment after eating it last weekend at a cafe run by Real Mexicans.
No chocolate for the whole time? :-( Actually, I think I could do it. I couldn't give up cheese though; it's a major component of too many meals.

I don't think I could live without cheese. But I do occasionally go for a week or two without chocolate, so I think it might be feasible to do six weeks. Particularly now I've said so in public.

Well, go you! I'd try to join you, but a couple of squares is the best way to stop the low-blood-sugar shakes I sometimes get.
