Gusher!

A geyser is not something you see every day in the suburbs on your way to work, but the guys building new houses in Remuera Village had hit a water main. The gusher was about 40 feet high and falling across the road so I had to drive through it. I felt sorry for the three guys in yellow jackets staring appalled down the hole.

Yep, I'm back at work. [livejournal.com profile] imhilien was regretting going back last week just as summer hit, but I think it's been called off this week due to rain. I can see the sun trying to shine though, just in time for Greg (who has another week off due to an enormous backlog of unused leave) to come and take me to Wagamama's for lunch, yay.

Ouch, I feel sorry for the guys with that sort of fix-it-now task...

Isn't the weather annoying this week - it's been wet and/or muggy. At least the sun managed to shine today for a while.

When Greg went past later, they had a standpipe in there but there was still a lot of flooding. He said the builders will have to pay for the repairs and the water they wasted, so no wonder they looked so worried.

Yeah, today was sooo humid. I had the fan on at work all day (no aircon there). Sigh. I want the sort of hot dry summers I loved in Israel and Germany. Here it's either cold and damp or hot and damp. I want sunshine without the sauna. :-P

We've got the sunshine, but we've got the sauna too :-( At least you and Greg did something to make the day better :-)

Lunch was excellent and I love the fresh fruit and vege juices they do. Wagamama's have a sign up saying they're open for public holidays and don't put the usual 15% surcharge on, so we'll definitely be back; there are two holidays coming up and it takes ages to find someone who doesn't charge extra.

It wouldn't be cheap for the builders, that's for sure. :(

Today was another humid day... yes, it would be nice just to have straight heat for a change! Yesterday at work our air con was down for the whole morning, ouch. Luckily we had windows we could open.

That's what it's like for me every day!
