New Year resos

Eh, everyone's doing it.

In 2007, vilakins resolves to...
Find a better food.
Spend less time on tarrant.
Find a new fiction.
Become a better jenna.
Get back in contact with some old novels.
Backup my vila regularly.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

Number two seems easy, and I always wanted to be a spaceship pilot. I do often backup my Vila--he's safe with me--and I'm very glad I did so before that Gauda Prime mess.

Hee! That's perfect.

I'll probably find that new food on one of the planets I visit.

mind if I adopt number 5, it's much better than resolving to give up reading which is one of mine.

Feel free! I couldn't give up reading either.

Thank you and a happy New Year yo you and yours, since it is already New Years Eve for you.

Well, it's New Year's afternoon, and raining so hard I'm putting off going out buy lunch. :-(

Of course , it was after midnight when I wrote that so it has to be New Years day with you. I will get the time difference right one of these days.

As for weather I was woken up half an hour ago by the most horrendous crash of thunder that seemed to go on for 5 minutes right over head and kept awake by the subsequent battle of the tympani of heaven. It stopped about 5 mins ago so I've risked turning the computer on as I am now wide awake and not in any danger of going back to sleep again, even though it is 2.40 am. So you have my sympathy, you should be having blue skies and sunshine and I should be having cold nights and starry skies. Weather is evil.

No, sorry, it's still New Years's eve; I was just saying it was afternoon rather than eve[ening]. It's coming up to 4pm; we're about 12 hours apart, not 24. :-)

I have a nice dinner planned and after it I'm going to break open some of the sticky, yummy, and indulgent dessert wine I've been keeping for a good occasion. :-P

I shall post when 2007 hits!

This generator comes up with really excellent resolutions. Say 'hi' to the old novels from me. (considering 'novel' means 'new' old novel is a bit of a contradiction in terms, isn't it?)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
In German, a novel is a 'Roman' or romance, as in 'fantasy'. :-)

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I did a bit of googling. 'Novel' in the sense of the book, originally came from Italian 'Novella', and meant something like 'chit-chat' or 'gossip' because the first book it was applied to was basically a collection of bawdy tales.

Gives a moment's pause to think that Porn came before serious novels, doesn't it?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I always assumed it was a 'novel' because it was something new.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
So did I. I knew it was from the Italian, but assumed it meant it was a new type of literature.

Given the amount of time you do spend on Tarrant... less than none is gonna be harder than it looks ;)

And I rather love 5 too, I may adopt it.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
But I do spend time on Tarrant! He appears in several of my stories, and I've even devoted a few [livejournal.com profile] b7friday fics to him!

I have to say though, have had a story ripped to shreds by a Tarrant Nostra member just because he was in it rather puts me off writing him.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm yes, I'm sure they don't mean to put people off the boy, but sometimes...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Have you been bitten too?

And that was meant to be 'having had'.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Not so much bitten as dismissed... but then I spent my early enthusiastic fannish years arguing that no Tufty was not the star of the show and the light of everyone's light, so I may have ended up biased...

S4 Tarrant isn't so bad, but then that could be because S4 is.

I'm glad I wasn't around then. I might have been frightened right off.
