A grizzly end

Ooh! Does Michael Keating read the World Wide Words newsletter too, not to mention the Guardian? Someone of that name sent an item to the Sic! section of this week's (scroll down to the last paragraph and possible bear slash).

Nice thought, though I guess it's not an uncommon name (as it happens my husband's best friend is an MK). But it was rotten what happened to Bruno. Like Bavaria wasn't big enough to accommodate a bear... bloody farmers.

I loved the library being closed due to the opening, elsewhere on that page.

I didn't really think it was, but you never know, it might be him. :-) We have a Michael Schumacher at work, and I've worked with Sharon Tate, Nick (sic) Kershaw, and Margaret Thatcher, and met a Neville Chamberlain.

I hear you on the bloody farmers. GRR. It's especially worse up here where we've got plenty of big beasts--bears, lynxes, wolverines, and only a few wolves left:(. I'm really hating the reindeer farmers because the bastards get a big payment for losses from the government from a wolf-killed reindeer that's far larger than the amount of money the deer's sale worth in meat.

Wolves have a really undeserved bad rep. Did you ever see the film 'Cry Wolf'? It was set in Alaska but basically the same thing happens there.

I'm sure he would read The Guardian, given that he's an intellectual leftie. Apparently Paul Darrow reads the Daily Fasci--sorry, Daily Mail.

Hm, it's about time I signed up for the World Wide Words newsletter...

Now why doesn't that surprise me? ;-) I think from a few things he said at Star One 2004 though that the US is too right wing even for him. (!)
