Efficiency does not pay

I got a contract to reconcile the debtor data on an old computer system with that on the new one it was moved to. Three to four days work, they said. I did it in less than a day and went home early. They asked me back today for another job which I also finished. So I ended up just doing 12 hours work and being paid accordingly. Greg said I should have been slower, but I don't see the point of being bored.
Oh, well, now I have two days to:

catch up on my e-mails
write some fic
fritter away more time have fun on [livejournal.com profile] b7_rpg
get my car fixed while I don't need it to go to work

I might also go in to the market on Friday and wander around the stalls, eat yummy Indian food, and get a massage. Mmmmm.

In my experience...

Going to the market on Friday sounds blissful.
The thing about temping is they expect slow work and idiots. The agency might be interested in qualifications and experience, but once you get to the client they usually assume you can barely read or write.

My last contract (managing a project to put voice comms into a small university) was excellent. Oh, well. Maybe the agency will realise they won't get much money themselves unless they get me something that's either on-going or challenging enough to be full-time.
