Happiness is a line without noise...
Our phone line here is so bad they're getting a technician from Whangarei to fix it today. We managed to get the first clear line in 24 hours so here's a quick post to say hello. The weather's still great (this is newsworthy in NZ, I tell you) and we're off to the other coast for the day to see a 'boulder park': a place full of ancient basalt which has only recently opened. Strike while the sun shines, that's what I say!

The boulder nature park was magnificent and I'm sure I walked off my lunch there. It's meant to be raining later today, but it's so nice still, we might take the ferry to Russell for lunch.

It sounds as if the park was nice - did you end up going to Russell?

The park was a park in the nature sense: very clambery. Bush walking, climbing over and under huge basalt boulders, but the trails were very well-marked and there were bridges. It was gorgeous: kauri and nikau, strange eroded huge boulders, a bubbling brook, seemingly bottomless ravines, and still, deep pools that reminded me of LOTR. I took some pics to post when I get home. :-)
