vilakins: Vila with stars superimposed (B7 pusher)

Finished!

Yay, I finished my finish-a-thon story and it just broke 10,000 words. Phew! [wipes brow] Now I just have to go back over it and revise before I feel it's worthy of a beta.

Yay! I just got my own ~4k word story back from beta, and am feeling slightly better about it than when I sent it off. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Cool!

When I'm happy with mine, I'll have to catch up on TM and [livejournal.com profile] b7friday. [sigh]

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Urgh, yeah, I need to do a TM this month, still. Alas, despite my recent much better track record there, I don't think I'm gonna get anything written for [livejournal.com profile] b7friday this month. I do want to get back to the [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 stuff soonish, though, even though I've pretty much decided to take that a bit slower.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100. Another to add to the list. I take consolation in the fact that people are still signing up for that.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, there's absolutely no rush on that thing. As you say, a lot of people are still signing up and haven't even started.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
You should wait till you read it first! It's all dialogue and no plot. Oh well, it's what people overwhelmingly voted for.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
That's a relief since you're the only one who has to read it! ;-)

So, how does Vir like that cat website?

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
By the time I got into it, he'd gotten distracted by something shiny and disappeared, so I don't know. :) Next time he's sitting by the computer, we'll see...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
We need a Vir update! Is he getting big? How does he get on with Happiness and Nova?

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
He's getting very big! He's more than half Nova's size now, and still growing. He and Happiness still don't really get along, but these days they mostly ignore each other, and it's OK. He and Nova have become best buddies, though, and are always wrestling with each other. I think Nova really likes having someone to play with, now that he's over being freaked out by Vir's existence. Happiness never would. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Friends! That's great. Claudia and Tessa wrestle a lot, but Vic's not included in that either, possibly because it took him a long time to learn how to play.

And when did I ever write anything that wasn't all dialogue? Except for the odd monologue.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good. I feel a bit better about it, then.

[identity profile] executrix.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Look at it this way--when New York was still a British colony, one of the governors, Lord Cornforth, had his portrait painted in drag, on the theory that since he represented a female sovereign, he had to wear dresses.

And we're writing stories based on TV shows! So they have to be mostly dialogue!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I do find dialogue easier, possibly because I see my stories as films to be transcribed. And comedy is easiest of all, not that B7 is one of those.

I love that story!

Well, obviously I wouldn't suggest myself as an appropriate model. But I think there are many excellent writers around who deal primarily in dialogue.

[identity profile] executrix.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Fabulous! Applause! Mine's nearly done but it's only going to be 5,000 words.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
A nice length. I kept thinking mine should be more succinct, but it 'details the difficult rebuilding of their friendship'. I just hope it's not too slow.

I bet mine's even slower! (grin)

Go, you!

...and on to the next. :-P

Well done, you.

Yay!

I'm still stuck on the last scene, and what's worse, I've got to the point beyond what I'd written before, the bit after the climax, and I've realized I haven't a clue how to actually end the story. Oh dear.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Just have them go their separate ways? I'm happy to beta if you want me to.

Thanks! I've worked out the ending with lovely help from [livejournal.com profile] aizain so that's okay. I've just sent it off to two betas, so I think I won't need to take up your kind offer, but I'll keep it in mind.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
And one of them is the excellent [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 who just did mine, so I doubt you'd need me after that.

Yeah, she just got back to me. 8-)
