A trio of memey things

The first one's snurched from [livejournal.com profile] trixieleitz, but while I was on the site, I did a couple more.

Your Hair Should Be Blue

Wild, brilliant, and out of control.
You're a risk taker with an eye to the future.

No, I don't think that description's me. I like adventures, but not risks; there's a difference.

Your Blog Should Be Yellow

You're a cheerful, upbeat blogger who tends to make everyone laugh.
You are a great storyteller, and the first to post the latest funny link.
You're also friendly and welcoming to everyone who comments on your blog.

But my blog's blue. Like my hair.

Your Career Type: Artistic

You are expressive, original, and independent.
Your talents lie in your artistic abilities: creative writing, drama, crafts, music, or art.

You would make an excellent:

Actor - Art Teacher - Book Editor
Clothes Designer - Comedian - Composer
Dancer - DJ - Graphic Designer
Illustrator - Musician - Sculptor

The worst career options for your are conventional careers, like bank teller or secretary.

Hey, I'd go for at least 6 of those! Why did I become a programmer, I ask myself?

My favourite colour!
What's Your Funky Inner Hair Color? (http://www.blogthings.com/whatsyourfunkyinnerhaircolorquiz/)

It's one of my favourites too, but turquoise edges it out. I love it for clothes but no, I wouldn't want turquoise hair. :-P

It said my hair should be purple, which oddly enough it used to be, but it wanted my blog greeen - no chance. Green depresses me, though I can't think why.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hospitals? I hate that shade, but I do love to see the green of growing things.

You had purple hair? Wow!

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
It was meant to be mahogany but I always left it on too long...

[giggles] Sorry.

I had purple hair once...

I'll have to take this to see what I get...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You should have posted a pic of it! The most outrageous I've gone was bright red and blonde streaks in the front and a buzz cut in an arc up the back. It felt amazing, like suede or velvet; I kept running my fingers over it all day. :-P

I actually don't HAVE any pics of it, at least the time it was purple purple, and the time before that it came out almost black, and that's my grad photo.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. That's a nice pic. :-)

So many people have said. *blushes*

Hey, I'd go for at least 6 of those! Why did I become a programmer, I ask myself?

Because programming is almost certainly more lucrative than any of the others?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
But nowhere near as much fun. Mind you, I've heard it ruins a hobby to do it for a living.

[identity profile] mistraltoes.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it does turn it from 'I want to' into 'I have to'. But that's more attitude than anything else. I think it's doing it to other people's schedules and standards rather than your own that's the problem. If you got paid to program exactly what you wanted, when you wanted, and didn't have to deal with other people, it probably wouldn't be so bad. :)

[identity profile] mistraltoes.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Er. That should have said 'rather than one's own'--I meant to be generic.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, most things wouldn't be! People are important too. It was overbearing, condescending, and abusive managers who drove me out of full-time work, not the work itself. My ideal job would be something creative I could do on-line like web sites, but it's hard to break into that sort of thing. I've got a boring and routine job right now but the people are lovely so if they asked me to stay, I just might.

[identity profile] daiseechain.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I like your red hair. It's a great colour.

Blue hair is very cool. Mine was blue once. It was actually jet black, with streaks of electric blue underneath the top layers of black, so you could only see the blue when the wind moved the top layers. It was great watching people do a double take, trying to figure out if they really had just seen bright blue hair. The blue faded slowly, and was a perfect green just in time for St Patrick's Day, which was cool.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that sounds amazing! I've had bright red streaks (and I mean bright) but I think I prefer the more natural colours on me; I don't look dramatic enough to carry them off. People with dark hair and eyebrows can do really cool things with their hair and that wonderful contrast.

I've got blonde and copper streaks in the auburn at the moment and I like it even if it's fairly low-key. It looks nice and shiny in the sun. :-)

[identity profile] daiseechain.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Shiny! Shiny's good.

Maybe you could try going really dark with a temporary colour, one designed to wash out in a few days?.. I have endless problems trying to get hairdressers to dye my hair black. My hair is naturally very dark blonde - the kind that often gets called mousy brown, but I must have darker colouring in my heritage somewhere, because when I dye it it black I look Spanish or Irish and it works beautifully. It may very well work for you too. Or maybe you could try it out with a wig?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a wig! It's dark brown, long, and twisty-curly. I wear it to medieval or Roman feasts (yeah, I know) and I can go wench, Roman lady, or for that matter just exotic in it. I love it. It looks good on me too, but black just wouldn't; the dark brown is softer. People who don't know me--or haven't seen me for a while--assume it's my natural hair. One guy said, "Wow, your hair grows fast! It looks good long." :-) Pity Greg doesn't like it. It worries him because I look like someone else.

I've noticed my hair looks best darker auburn with very subtle streaks, the way it is now. It's not as red as it was when I was a kid (it goes darker each year), but after experimentation I've found that dark is better than bright on me if I'm adding colour. I have brown eyes and darker hair brings those out more and even seems to add colour to my eyebrows. I experimented with a lot of blonde streaks recently and it washed my face out.

I'm a mix. I have Semitic, German, Russian, and Spanish (a great-grandmother) in me. [shrug] In Europe people always picked me as a Slav but I noticed similar colouring to mine in northern Italy.
