Day 8: Favourite romance

I am not a romance person (being aromantic) so I don't have one. I've only noticed a few, and none of them grabs me.

Jenna/Blake - probably one-sided, or it's friendship, and I do much prefer the whole friendship thing. As people may have noticed. ;) Besides, Blake puts his cause well before people.

Avon/Servalan - there's a twisted attraction there on both sides. Avon knows it's not going anywhere, and though he's attracted by wealth and power, he's right - he wouldn't live long.

Vila/Kerril - too short to be a romance, and Kerril's playing a part to get Vila to come over all protective. He made the right decision not to stay on that planet: the pioneer life wouldn't exactly suit him, and Kerril would probably drop her act and be as contemptuous as she first was.

Servalan/Tarrant - also a short fling, and I'm glad the crew expressed their opinion of it.

Did I miss any? I'm pretty oblivious in RL.

Might be just me, but Soolin and Avon seemed to have a thing for awhile. Mind you, Soolin and Dayna seemed to have a thing going on as well and there was the whole Dayna and Tarrant thing as well... and that was just on-screen canon stuff, never mind what the fandom shippers were doing!

It is hard to see any romance in Blake's 7 as it just wasn't a primary theme of the show, obviously. I am a romantic person and even I find it difficult. You neatly summarised the main possible romances evident in the show.

The only other ones I can think of are: Blake and his cousin, was she called Inga? Or something. That was probably a childhood crush but rather incestuous. Like Howard Wolowitz and his cousin Jeanie 😅 And that awful Dayna/Justin one which was so unrealistic as he was her very, very much older teacher. Eww. And Tarrant/Zeona which also went nowhere, I suppose it just showed that Tarrant did have a heart.

That just made me think that romance storylines can be added to show different aspects of a character. Hmm. I won't go off on a tangent!
