Level 4 lockdown
Oh joy. We're going into three days of level 4 (highest) lockdown at midnight - and a whole 7 days for Auckland and Coromandel where someone with the Delta variant has been. Because Delta's so dangerous and infectious, the government's "going fast and hard". Normally this wouldn't inconvenience me much, working from home, but we both have important work and meetings on this week, me here and Greg in Christchurch, that are now cancelled or delayed. It's seriously bad timing, but hey, I'd rather be safe (if stressed).
I daresay people are out in mass panic-buying TP and flour as I type, even though supermarkets will be staying open, as they always do.

Take care in Auckland!

I'm staying put; it's very quiet out there. Usually I can hear motorway traffic noise from my neighbourhood but hearing its silence instead is a bit unreal. I remember it being like that in the first lockdown.

It's very quiet here too. I went for a small grocery shop since I needed more food with Greg back, and apart from almost everyone wearing masks, it seemed a usual day, perhaps a little quieter. I was expecting queues; it's good to see people are behaving well this time.

I have to keep reminding myself what day it is, I remember doing that the first lockdown. :(

I don't know why they let people go home from Auckland, crowding the airport and planes, or going to service stations and cafes on their way home, like those people in Wellington with it. Greg's sister was working in Auckland and came back on Wednesday. She said the airport and plane were packed. She's isolating at home anyway in case, but I bet some aren't. :-(
