AO3 stats meme

As I now know there are at least a couple more lurkers like me around, I feel as if I should post more instead of mainly reading and commenting because there are more people here than I thought.

I might have done this meme once, but I thought I'd have another look, and the first sort by hits was very surprising. So here goes (though I'm not in the league of astrogirl and thisbluespirit because small fandoms and gen).

AO3 Stats

Hits

  1. Electrical Contact (Downton Abbey, Doctor Who (2005), Sherlock (TV)) - 3131
  2. A Surfeit of Tarrants (Blake's 7) – 2777
  3. Tears Before Bedtime (Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner) – 2222
  4. The Time Traveller Trap (Stargate Atlantis, Doctor Who (2005)) - 1153
  5. Remade (Bas Lag - China Miéville) – 979
  6. At The End (Temeraire - Naomi Novik) – 840
  7. Pets (Blake's 7) – 805
  8. The Art Game (Mad Men) – 708
  9. Time Warp (Blake's 7, Star Trek: The Next Generation) – 612
  10. The Hand of Friendship (Blake's 7) – 572

It's A Surfeit of Tarrants that I'm totally puzzled by. Tarrant fans reccing it to each other perhaps? Very odd.
Electrical Contact amuses me as it was inspired by this Dorktower comic, though I didn't set it in WW1. Ha, challenge accepted!
Three are yuletide pinch hits or treats so I suppose that brings more reader to my yard.

Kudos

  1. Tears Before Bedtime (Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner) – 61
  2. Electrical Contact (Downton Abbey, Doctor Who (2005), Sherlock (TV)) - 46
  3. A Surfeit of Tarrants (Blake's 7) – 44
  4. The Time Traveller Trap (Stargate Atlantis, Doctor Who (2005)) - 41
  5. At The End (Temeraire - Naomi Novik) – 37
  6. In a Pinch (Blake's 7, Discworld - Terry Pratchett) - 29
  7. The Hand of Friendship (Blake's 7) – 29
  8. In the Company of Strangers (Blake's 7) – 29
  9. Other Customs (Blake's 7) - 28
  10. Friendship (Blake's 7) – 27

The one that puzzles me here is Other Customs, which was written for a Bingo challenge and also puzzles me a bit.

Comments

  1. Tears Before Bedtime (Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner) - 32
  2. Vilanix and the Magic Potion (Blake's 7, Astérix le Gaulois | Asterix the Gaul) - 32
  3. In the Company of Strangers (Blake's 7) – 25
  4. Guess the Universe! (Blake's 7, The Big Bang Theory (TV)) - 25
  5. (S)elective Memory Loss (Blake's 7) - 22
  6. Finding Blake (Blake's 7) - 20
  7. In a Pinch (Blake's 7, Discworld - Terry Pratchett) - 19

  9. Little Red Lobster-Suit (Blake's 7) - 17
  10. Scum, Villainy, and Rebels (Blake's 7, Star Wars Original Trilogy) – 15

Once again Other Customs is there. I dunno, it has to be the questionnaire they had to pass.

Bookmarks (got fed up with doing the counts here)

  1. Tears Before Bedtime (Queen's Thief - Megan Whalen Turner)
  2. Anthropology (Blake's 7)
  3. Friendship (Blake's 7)
  4. Electrical Contact (Downton Abbey, Doctor Who (2005), Sherlock (TV))
  5. Let There Be Light (Blake's 7)
  6. Guilt (Blake's 7)
  7. Free Choice (Blake's 7)
  8. The Hand of Friendship (Blake's 7)
  9. Time Warp (Blake's 7, Star Trek: The Next Generation
  10. A Chemical Bond (Blake's 7)
I'm guessing Let There Be Light is there for people to read at Hanukkah or Christmas. A Chemical Bond though? It's another bingo one, high school AU based in part on things that happened to me at school.

I really wish I could figure out where the traffic to some of mine comes from, too. Often I figure a story must have gotten a rec somewhere for anybody to be interested in it, especially when there's a bit of activity on it all at once, but I almost never can figure out where.

Short stories always seem to get more hits.

Hi... I got here via Jaxomsride, who's my S.O
I write, but I don't write all that much fandom. However the exceptions would be; A Soul of Old Steel (a star trek/Azur lane crossover) and Hulk HUG! which gets a surprising amount of traffic for a short silly bit.

My usual line of writing is more like The Exeter Incident which is currently on hiatus until I think of a better ending.

Inspired by, but not a directly based upon. It's set in Ysabetwordsmith polychrome heroics universe. and yeah I know about that convention now. My later stuff reflects that, I just haven't had the time to go back though my older stuff and rework it.

Ok, I unashamedly admit I liked her too, and stole the character... and then Francis developed into her own woman.

I'm laughing a lot at the idea that I don't write small fandoms and gen! But, yeah, I seem to have hit on the odd niche pairing (mild as my shippiness is) and Yuletide, as you say, makes a big difference. (I trail quite a bit behind the marvellous [personal profile] astrogirl, though!)

B7 may not be huge, but the fandom always seems comparatively chatty. My B7 fic rarely makes it to the top tens, but it always gets a nice lot of comments, which is far more satisfactory, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm very amused that too many Tarrants is so popular, though! Maybe the Tarrant fans are starved/very dedicated? Or, of course, it's just that good.

Oh, other Customs may not be tagged for it, but you posted it to a biggish comm a few years back and it featured Blake, Avon and Only One Bed and Fake Relationship, I don't think there's a mystery there!

Yuletide and exchanges are where most of my comments come from, really!

I haven't done any writing in lockdown - lots of language learning but no writing yet.

Whatever works for each of us! ♥ I've been mostly carrying on being not too different to usual and without any appointments, so if anything I've been able to write a little more now that everyone else is locked down, not just me for being ill all this time.

I'm scratching my head and wondering if this post is actually in code and might mean something entirely different if you knew how to decode it? I understood the idea of lurking rather than posting (unless that itself is code for something else), but beyond that I don't have a clue.

These lists are things you like? Dislike? Have written? Know someone who might have written? Just curious, and sorry if this sounds impolite for any reason.
